Job Description:
This position is in Crete, Nebraska. Responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day operations of the Packing & Loading department. Support the overall facility operations in monitoring and improving plant productivity.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Cultivate a safety culture where unsafe acts are not tolerated and employees and management have a common goal of zero injuries.
- Oversee assigned department production shift activities (crush, refinery, milling, packaging, warehouse, boiler house, and/or elevator) to ensure operations are running at the highest levels of efficiency.
- Commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system; and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure assigned shift is compliant with sanitation requirements. May provide support in the monthly sanitation inspections and implementation of any corrective actions as necessary.
- Track and report shift productivity improvements.
- Approve daily reports and KPRs for the assigned shift.
- Report and trouble shoot operations issues.
- Provide input to the Supt-Production Operations and/or Plant Manager to project work and production schedule.
- Work with the Safety/Environmental Manager to ensure compliance of assigned shift in all aspects.
- Work with BNSF railroad to order, stage, and maintain railcars for bulk loadout operations.
- Support the continuous improvement activities and act as a change agent for any changes that occur in the assigned shift.
- Order supplies needed for department, track inventory, maintain records of supplies and inventory.
- Periodically participate in the daily production meetings to remain informed and ensure that the assigned shift operations activities are aligned.
- Participate in personnel investigations and recommend corrective actions as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
- 2+ years of experience in milling, extrusion, and/or related and applicable activities
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Proficiency with basic computer skills, including Lotus Notes, Microsoft Word and other technical software packages, as needed.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday days, but some weekend work, as needed will be required. This will also be a rotating shift between first and second shifts.Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
