This position is responsible for safely executing the nightly production plan, maintaining product quality, minimizing equipment downtime, developing employees, and ensuring a clear handoff to the next shift. The ideal candidate is a visible and engaged floor leader who understands what each machine and operator is working on throughout the shift. This individual will respond quickly to safety, quality, material, staffing, and equipment issues while taking full ownership of the shift's overall performance.
Schedule:
Monday-Thursday, 5:00 PM-3:00 AM Key Responsibilities Production Leadership Prepare the CNC team and equipment before the start of production. Conduct a focused pre-shift stand-up meeting to communicate safety expectations, production priorities, staffing assignments, and potential concerns. Assign operators to machines based on production needs, employee skills, and workload. Monitor production progress throughout the night and ensure established goals are achieved. Maintain awareness of what each machine and operator is working on. Follow the CNC Night Shift Leader Standard Work during every shift. Complete an accurate and detailed handoff to the incoming shift. Safety and Quality Promote and enforce all company safety policies and operating procedures. Respond immediately to safety concerns and ensure corrective actions are taken. Monitor product quality and address defects or process inconsistencies promptly. Ensure operators follow approved work instructions, quality standards, and machine procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment. Equipment and Downtime Management Monitor CNC machine performance and respond quickly to equipment issues. Coordinate with Maintenance when repairs or technical assistance are required. Track machine downtime and support efforts to restore production safely and efficiently. Identify recurring equipment or process issues and escalate them to the appropriate department. Ensure required machine inspections and startup checks are completed. Team Development Provide clear direction, coaching, and performance feedback to CNC operators. Train employees on safe machine operation, quality expectations, and production procedures. Address attendance, performance, and workplace concerns in a timely and professional manner. Encourage accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Identify employee development and cross-training opportunities. Qualifications Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. CNC machining, woodworking, cabinetry, or related production experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of production workflow, machine operation, quality control, and workplace safety. Ability to troubleshoot production issues and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment. Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to remain actively engaged on the production floor throughout the shift. Basic computer skills and experience completing production reports. Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
