Job Description
Shift Second Job Description Summary:
Shift Second is responsible for assisting the Shift Supervisor with all necessary tasks and management of their shift, leading team to excel in relation to operating the yogurt processing, filling, and packaging machines. Responsible for assisting Clean-in-Place procedures, staging, blending, HTST system, culturing, flavoring, packaging, etc. with the team. Qualified applicants must possess tangible experience in food processing, team leadership, strong problem solving skills. Production Supervisor must also comply with all local, state, federal and company regulations including, but not limited to: OSHA, FDA, EPA and SQF.Areas of Responsibility:
- Manage shift personnel of a team of 12-16 individuals tasked with processing, filling, and packaging
- Areas of responsibility (not limited to only listed): o Lead daily shift meetings o Daily shift reports o Weekly shift reports o Accurate recording of required production metrics ie.
- Responsible for troubleshooting: The ability to rapidly assess, analyze and resolve complicated problems with little initial information or direction and with varying degrees of ambiguity. Intermediate troubleshooting methodology is demonstrated
- At times, work a flexible schedule as needed
- Actively leads teams and adds value with their leadership
- Check work for mistakes
- Work safely and follow all applicable safety procedures. Prevents employees from doing unsafe tasks
- Follow all applicable FS&Q policies. Identifies FS&Q issues in the plant and regularly reports these issues. Prevents employees from doing improper FS&Q tasks
- Innovative and possess ability to multi -task and shift priorities quickly while maintaining control, focus and professionalism in a fast paced and dynamic environment
- Energy, resilience, determination, and strong analytical skills needed to challenge the status quo
- Identify and implement continuous improvement and reliability opportunities
Job Requirements:
- High school Diploma, GED
- 2-5 years of experience in a food production / manufacturing environment operating, repairing and/or troubleshooting issues on filling, packaging and other processing equipment. Previous dairy, food and beverage industry experience preferred
- Experience in a supervisory role
- Experience with Osgood, Modern, Douglas, and Westrock machines preferred
- Must be able to work on your feet for up to 12 Hours
- Must be able to lift, push or pull up to 60 pounds
- Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance
- Must be able to climb ladders, work at heights, work overhead, work in confined spaces and work in very hot and very cool environments
- While performing the duties of this job, the Supervisor is regularly required to talk and hear.
