In this position you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the tool crib, ensuring tools, fixtures, gauges, and consumables are properly maintained, tracked, and readily available to support production. The Tool Crib Supervisor plays a key role in minimizing downtime, controlling tooling costs, and driving safe, efficient manufacturing operations. A full job description can be provided to interested/qualified candidates Key Responsibilities (partial list): Supervise the daily operations of the tool crib, including issuing, receiving, tracking, and maintaining tools, fixtures, gauges, and consumable supplies. Maintain accurate inventory records using ERP/MRP or other inventory management systems. Monitor tool usage, wear, and lifecycle while coordinating repairs, regrinds, calibrations, and replacements. Partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and Purchasing teams to ensure production tooling needs are met. Develop, implement, and enforce tool crib procedures, inventory controls, 5S standards, and safety practices. Identify opportunities to reduce tooling costs through standardization, repair programs, and inventory optimization. Ensure proper storage, labeling, handling, and organization of tools and precision measuring equipment. Support new product launches, process improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives. Prepare reports on tooling usage, inventory levels, shortages, costs, and performance metrics. Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and workplace safety regulations. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with tool crib or tooling experience strongly preferred. Previous supervisory or team lead experience preferred. Strong knowledge of machining tools, cutting tools, fixtures, gauges, and manufacturing processes. Experience with ERP/MRP systems, inventory management software, or tool management systems. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Experience supporting CNC machining or precision manufacturing operations. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies. Experience with tooling cost reduction and inventory optimization initiatives. Working Conditions Manufacturing facility with regular exposure to machine shop conditions, noise, oil, and industrial equipment. Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting throughout the workday. Ability to lift up to 40-50 pounds as needed. Occasional overtime or off-shift support may be required to meet production demands.
