This hands-on leadership role is responsible for supervising skilled trades personnel, ensuring tooling is maintained for efficient production, and driving safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the department. The ideal candidate is a Certified Journeyman Tool & Die Maker (or possesses equivalent experience), has strong leadership skills, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Lead and supervise the daily operations of the Tool Room on first shift. Provide leadership, coaching, and accountability for Tool Room personnel. Assign daily work to maximize productivity, quality, and on-time support for production. Ensure tooling, dies, and related equipment are maintained, repaired, and ready for production. Support manufacturing by minimizing downtime through effective troubleshooting and repair coordination. Train, mentor, and develop Tool Room team members. Conduct performance coaching, evaluations, and disciplinary documentation as needed. Communicate company policies, safety expectations, work instructions, and departmental goals through shift meetings and one-on-one discussions. Coordinate priorities with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering, Logistics, HR, and Health & Safety teams. Monitor department performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Promote a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Ensure compliance with all company safety, quality, and environmental policies. Qualifications Certified Journeyman Tool & Die Maker or equivalent combination of education and extensive experience. Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a Tool Room or manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of tool and die repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing operations. Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members. Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Preferred Qualifications Automotive manufacturing experience. Experience with stamping dies and production tooling.
