We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Floor Manager to lead our fabrication and production operations. This is a hands-on leadership position for an experienced manufacturing professional who understands fabrication processes, enjoys being on the production floor, and knows how to organize work, develop employees, solve problems, improve processes, and create a positive, accountable work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in metal fabrication and manufacturing, with the ability to translate production requirements, engineering drawings, materials, labor needs, and customer deadlines into an organized and efficient daily operation. Key Responsibilities Fabrication & Production Floor Management Lead daily fabrication and production activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and on schedule. Review production schedules, priorities, materials, engineering drawings, labor requirements, work orders, and customer due dates. Plan and coordinate fabrication work, including material flow, cutting, forming, welding, assembly, finishing, and related processes. Assign daily work and adjust staffing based on production priorities, employee capabilities, and changing business needs. Monitor production throughout the day, identify bottlenecks, and take corrective action before issues affect quality or delivery. Maintain a visible, hands-on presence on the production floor and lead by example. Work directly with employees to troubleshoot fabrication, quality, material, equipment, and process issues. Coordinate with management, engineering, purchasing, quality, and shipping to keep production moving. Ensure materials, tooling, fixtures, equipment, and labor are available to meet production requirements. Help establish realistic production priorities and communicate changes clearly to the team. Employee Training & Development Train, coach, and develop fabrication and production employees. Ensure employees understand fabrication methods, engineering drawings, work instructions, tooling, equipment operation, quality requirements, and safety expectations. Cross-train employees to increase flexibility, productivity, and coverage across the production floor. Identify employee strengths and skill gaps and develop training plans accordingly. Provide clear expectations, ongoing coaching, and regular performance feedback. Address performance, attendance, training, and behavioral issues promptly and consistently. Develop employees into stronger operators, fabricators, and future team leaders. Employee Morale & Team Culture Create a positive, respectful, productive, and team-oriented work environment. Build employee engagement through clear communication, recognition, coaching, and teamwork. Encourage employees to identify problems, suggest improvements, and take ownership of their work. Address workplace concerns and conflicts professionally, fairly, and consistently. Build accountability while maintaining a respectful environment that does not rely on unnecessary pressure or intimidation. Lead by example through professionalism, dependability, fairness, and a strong work ethic. Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and efficient fabrication and production floor. Ensure employees properly use machines, tools, PPE, fixtures, and other equipment. Ensure work is performed according to engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, and quality standards. Monitor quality throughout the fabrication process and address problems at their source. Reduce scrap, rework, defects, downtime, and production delays. Support and implement 5S, Lean Manufacturing, standard work, and continuous improvement initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve fabrication methods, tooling, fixtures, workflows, material handling, workstation layouts, and employee training. Work with engineering and management to develop practical solutions to recurring production problems. Promote a culture where safety and quality are everyone's responsibility. Qualifications Required 5+ years of manufacturing, fabrication, metalworking, or related industrial experience. 3+ years of supervisory, production lead, working-foreman, or equivalent leadership experience. Demonstrated experience leading employees in a manufacturing or fabrication environment. Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes and production workflow. Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem-solving ability. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work orders, bills of material, and production instructions. Ability to understand dimensions, tolerances, materials, and fabrication requirements. Proven ability to train, coach, motivate, and hold employees accountable. Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills. Ability to prioritize multiple jobs and changing production requirements. Comfortable working directly on the production floor and getting involved when problems need to be solved. Basic computer skills, including email, spreadsheets, and production reporting. Strong commitment to safety, quality, productivity, employee development, and on-time delivery. Preferred Experience with custom, low-volume/high-mix, or made-to-order manufacturing. Hands-on experience with metal fabrication, welding, press brakes, laser cutting, shearing, forming, grinding, assembly, powder coating, or similar processes. Experience interpreting fabrication drawings and determining the appropriate production methods. Experience with CNC fabrication equipment or other automated manufacturing equipment. Experience with production scheduling, job prioritization, labor planning, and material coordination. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, standard work, or continuous improvement. Experience working in an environment where priorities and customer requirements can change quickly. What We're Looking For We are looking for a hands-on Fabrication Manager who can lead people and get results. The right candidate understands that successful fabrication starts with having the right people, materials, equipment, information, and priorities in place. They know how to organize a busy production floor, recognize problems early, make sound decisions, and work alongside employees when necessary to keep production moving. Just as importantly, this person understands that good production leadership is about people as much as it is about processes. They build trust, communicate clearly, recognize good work, develop employees, and maintain accountability while creating a workplace where people want to do their best work.
