Job Description

SUMMARY OF POSITION
 Supervises all related activities involved in the efficient production of high-quality products.  Coordinates activities of product support services (i.e., Maintenance, etc.).  Accountable for operating within Company-approved budgets and staffing levels.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 Must have prior proven experience in food processing, packaging, or filling operations (USDA) products preferred.  Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management.  Ability to effectively motivate and supervise subordinate employees.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
 Thorough knowledge of equipment and workmanship of equipment (including set
  • up, simple maintenance of, and running of equipment).
 Working knowledge of Human Resources principles.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Checks with Leads to verify that the necessary equipment is in place and operating properly to run the product specified by the schedule 2. Ensures that production flows smoothly through the lines and keeps alert for possible points of slowdown, whether it is with employees, machinery, or product, and reporting any unusual condition to the Production Manager. 3. Coordinates and sets up scheduling of product with distribution and warehousing to establish the most efficient production and shipping of products. 4. Develops and continually re-evaluates production procedures to improve them and looks for procedures to reduce costs or increase output wherever possible.
POSITION DESCRIPTION 5.
Monitors the collection and preparation of production data, ensuring that accurate and timely information is made available to appropriate personnel 6. Works with Quality Assurance to assure the highest quality product is always being produced 7. Assists in the organizational development of the production function to attain the most effective and cost-efficient operations possible 8. Coordinates with the Maintenance Department in the repair of production equipment in a manner resulting in the least amount of production downtime possible. 9. Responsible for ensuring the following safety requirements are met:
  • Conducting safety orientation and safety training of employees
  • Enforcing safe work practices
  • Correcting unsafe conditions.
  • Preventing lingering unsafe and unhealthful workplace conditions or hazards.
  • Investigating workplace accidents.
10. Ensures all areas are kept clean, in good condition, and in compliance with established sanitation requirements. 11. Establishes and maintains good working relationships with any inspectors from the state or federal governments. 12. Stays abreast of food processing and human relations techniques and principles. 13. Promotes and maintains a high level of morale among employees. Maintains awareness of employee attitudes and concerns and informs Production Manager of potential problems. 14. Responsible for implementation of food safety, legality and quality policies and procedures within the scope of the job responsibilities such as, but not limited to: GMP's, HACCP, food safety, product quality, food security, governmental guidelines and requirements, pre-requisite programs, quality systems, etc. 15. Requires employee's conduct to be in accordance with established company rules and regulations. 16. Schedules subordinate employees in a manner which will optimize production and reduce unnecessary overhead. 17. Reviews and approves all subordinate employees' timecards every week before submission to payroll. 18. Documents and counsels employees as necessary in conjunction with the Production Manager and the HR Representative. 19. Assists in the selection of new hires and supervises the orientation and training of said employees to include job descriptions, rules and regulations, good manufacturing practices and safety. 20. Coordinates the efficient handling of personnel matters such as training, promotions, transfers, discipline, attendance reporting, performance evaluations, and payroll for employees as directed by the Production Manager and/or the HR Representative. 21. Keeps abreast of and conforms to established administrative and operational policies and procedures 22. Checks production lines before start of scheduled run for correct setup. 23. Communicates production schedules and line cleaning requirements to Sanitation 24. Performs other related duties and/or assignments as requested by Production Manager.

$65,000.00
