Second Shift Welding & Steel Fabrication Supervisor Location:
York, PA Job Type:
Direct Hire Starting Pay:
$32.00/hour + $3.00/hour second-shift differential (higher based on experience) Position Overview We are hiring an experienced Structural Steel Welding & Fabrication Supervisor to oversee second-shift shop operations. This role provides hands-on leadership to welders and fitters while coordinating production, quality, staffing, equipment, materials, and schedules.
Must Have:
Structural steel fabrication industry experience Leadership experience overseeing welders and fitters Previous supervisory or foreman experience Responsibilities Lead and direct welders, fitters, and other shop personnel Coordinate daily welding, fitting, fabrication, and production activities Assign work and maintain balanced workloads across the shop Monitor production and fabrication schedules to keep projects on track Ensure work meets quality, safety, and production requirements Establish and maintain standard fabrication and quality-control procedures Coordinate deliveries and communicate material or production needs Work with project management, purchasing, logistics, other departments, and fabrication facilities to meet deadlines Monitor and maintain shop equipment, tools, materials, and building needs Maintain inventory levels in coordination with purchasing and first-shift leadership Develop effective working relationships with vendors and suppliers Review production processes and identify ways to improve efficiency, employee performance, and quality Provide updates and recommendations to management regarding production, staffing, and shop operations Adjust staffing and work hours when necessary to meet delivery schedules Follow and enforce company policies and procedures Qualifications Managerial, supervisory, or foreman experience required Strong knowledge of the structural steel fabrication industry Experience leading welders and fitters Excellent spoken and written English Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills High school diploma or equivalent Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Must be available for second shift, overtime, and Saturdays as needed We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
