Production Manager Position Summary The Production Manager is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations to achieve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost objectives. This position oversees production supervisors and production employees while ensuring that work is completed efficiently, customer expectations are met, and company standards are consistently maintained. The Production Manager is expected to build a culture of accountability, develop leaders, eliminate waste, improve processes, and ensure every department works together to meet company goals. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience working with metal in a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of different types and grades of metal and how they behave during manufacturing processes. Required Manufacturing & Metal Experience The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience working with metal in a manufacturing environment and a strong understanding of different types and grades of metal and how they behave during manufacturing processes. Must have previous experience working with metal in a manufacturing facility. Must be familiar with various types and grades of metal, including carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other commonly used metals and alloys. Must understand how different metals respond to cutting, forming, bending, welding, grinding, and other manufacturing processes. Must be able to recognize differences in material characteristics, thickness, hardness, and application. Experience with metal fabrication, welding, press brakes, saws, grinders, laser/plasma cutting, or similar equipment is strongly preferred. Must be able to communicate effectively with welders, fabricators, machine operators, and other production employees regarding material, process, quality, and production requirements. Candidates without meaningful experience working with metal in a manufacturing environment will not be considered. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Leadership Lead, coach, and develop production supervisors and team leaders. Create a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Set clear performance expectations and address performance issues promptly. Conduct regular production meetings and communicate company objectives. Recognize employee achievements and encourage employee development. Production Operations Manage daily production schedules to meet customer delivery requirements. Ensure labor, equipment, and materials are utilized efficiently. Monitor production output and make adjustments to meet production goals. Coordinate with Planning, Purchasing, Engineering, Maintenance, Shipping, and Quality to remove production obstacles. Ensure accurate production reporting and documentation. Quality Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards. Work closely with Quality to reduce defects and improve first-pass yield. Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities. Promote quality ownership throughout the production team. Qualifications Five (5) or more years of manufacturing leadership experience. Three (3) or more years managing supervisors or large production teams. Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles. Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Keystone experience is a plus). Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Strong organizational and decision-making abilities. Proficient with Microsoft Office. Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, forklifts, welding operations, and changing temperatures. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE). $82,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
