A Foreman will lead the crew by creating a daily and weekly plan alongside the Superintendent and project managers and communicate daily with his crew and subcontractors. Additionally, a foreman will be responsible for showing up each morning to his assigned project already prepared with tools, materials and knowledge to start each morning at the agreed upon start time Responsibilities o Daily management meetings for proper equipment and crew scheduling o Educating and training newer employees as needed o Manage and direct crews and subcontractors daily o Ensure the crew has all the necessary tools to complete the required task o Ensure OSHA standards are adhered to o Promote an atmosphere of teamwork and understanding of each crew members abilities, and communicate to each crew member what is expected so they have a clear understanding of the processes o Notify mechanical team when services may be needed for onsite equipment o Communicate with other supers, foreman, and project managers daily o Track time and quantities and complete daily timecards and daily reports. o Create a safe and helpful work environment o Interface with customers and represent the ideals of Thompson Bros. Excavating, Inc. Working Environment o Typical working environment is working mostly on 1 or 2 different project sites per week in all weather conditions o Typical working hours vary based on weather conditions and seasons, but summer months are typically 40+ hours a week, 5 days a week and winters tend to be right around 40 hours a week, weather pending o We typically try to avoid working Saturdays or Sundays, however the occasional Saturday may be required during the busy summer season Job Requirements and Qualifications o Basic math skills and understanding o Previous experience as a civil foreman, or proven leadership history o Quality Control and an understanding of specifications o Understanding of project plans and specifications and where to find critical information when needed o Understanding of civil construction operations and operations of most construction equipment and small tools o Ability to interact and communicate with TBE customers o Determine risk vs reward when trying to overcome roadblocks onsite o Mentor and train employees for future growth o Current certified and/or willing to certify in: First Aid, CPR, CDL, Confined Space, Competent Person, Erosion and Sediment Control, o Help create look-ahead schedules o GPS (Topcon) system experience is preferred o Able to potential onsite or design conflicts before they happen o Understanding of utility locates and ability to call them in if needed o Ability to spot change orders or non-contract work prior to performing work Compensation and Benefits o
Pay:
