Full Job Description About Us:
Since opening, Catahoula Coffee has become an award-winning coffee roaster beloved not just in the Bay Area but by "Catahouligans" from coast to coast. We are a premier artisan coffee roaster that takes coffee seriously — but not ourselves! We carefully source the finest green beans from responsible growers who prioritize both quality and sustainability, supporting the earth and their farming communities. Every batch is roasted to perfection to bring out the best flavors in every cup.
Job Overview:
Production Assistants work in a dynamic warehouse environment, preparing all coffee products after roasting. This includes blending, bagging, labeling, boxing, and shipping. The role requires endurance, consistency, and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Production Assistants typically work Monday through Friday (Wednesdays off) , from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., though hours may vary depending on daily production needs. Successful candidates are reliable, resourceful, and physically able to meet the demands of the job. Team members are encouraged to engage in meetings, goal-setting, and to grow their coffee knowledge and production skills.
Work Environment:
The warehouse is partially climate controlled but can be hot in summer and cold in winter. Candidates must be comfortable working in a noisy environment with frequent and varied tasks and distractions.
Key Responsibilities:
Labeling, filling, bagging, boxing, and shipping products using commercial manufacturing equipment. Maintaining cleanliness and organization of production and work areas. Performing light equipment maintenance and upkeep as needed. Supporting general production and facilities tasks and projects. Participating in team meetings, goal-setting sessions, and training. Facilitating coffee order pick-ups with vendors and staff.
Qualifications:
2+ years of relevant work experience preferred (production, warehouse, or similar environment). Ability to stand and perform repetitive tasks for up to 8 hours per day. Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout the shift. Strong customer service skills and a positive, can-do attitude. Team-oriented and dependable.
Physical Requirements:
Activities:
Reaching, standing for extended periods, walking long distances, lifting, grasping, finger dexterity, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion (wrists, hands, and fingers).
Lifting:
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, 30 pounds frequently, and 10 pounds constantly.
Vision:
Close visual acuity for detailed tasks such as inspecting, labeling, and operating equipment; general observation of surroundings and safety.
Environment:
Work is indoors with protection from weather, but subject to temperature variations. Exposure to a noisy environment where communication may require raised voices.
