Shop Helper Job Description The Shop Helper is an entry-level position within a CNC manufacturing facility, supporting daily operations in precision machining and advanced manufacturing. This role is ideal for individuals who want to start a career in machining and production, providing hands-on experience with CNC equipment, part handling, basic grinding, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Responsibilities Load and unload CNC grinding and machining equipment safely and efficiently. Perform basic part handling and staging for production runs to ensure smooth workflow. Assist machine operators with simple machine tasks as directed. Carry out basic grinding, deburring, and finishing of parts to meet quality standards. Clean machines and surrounding work areas to maintain shop cleanliness and safety standards. Inspect parts visually for obvious defects or inconsistencies before further processing. Organize tooling, materials, and shop supplies to support efficient production operations. Follow all safety procedures and company policies at all times. Support other shop operations and tasks as needed to meet production goals. Essential Skills Previous production or warehouse experience of at least 6 months. Ability to perform general labor tasks, including heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in an entry-level role while learning new skills. Reliable and punctual with a strong sense of responsibility. Team-oriented and coachable, with a willingness to follow direction and learn. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment. Basic grinding and deburring skills, with ability to use power tools safely. Attention to detail when handling and inspecting parts. Ability to stand comfortably during an 8-hour shift. English language skills sufficient to understand instructions and safety information. Additional Skills & Qualifications Interest in precision machining and advanced manufacturing as a long-term career path. Work Environment This position operates in a machine shop environment with approximately 70 CNC machines in an open-air facility that can be hot or cold depending on the weather. You will work on the first shift, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with potential overtime. The role requires being on your feet all day, standing for an 8-hour shift, and performing tasks that involve lifting up to 50 lbs, using power tools, and working around active production equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vista, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
