A well-established North County organization is looking for a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team and take ownership of complex accounting, month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
This position is designed for someone who has mastered the fundamentals of accounting and is ready for more ownership, more visibility, and more exposure to the business.
You'll work closely with the Controller and accounting leadership while becoming a key resource for financial reporting and accounting projects. This is a particularly strong opportunity for someone who eventually wants to move into an Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller position.
What you'll be responsible for:
Own assigned portions of the monthly and quarterly close process.
Prepare and review complex journal entries and account reconciliations.
Analyze general ledger activity and investigate unusual transactions.
Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Assist with accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
Analyze income statement and balance sheet activity.
Assist with audit schedules and respond to auditor requests.
Support annual budgeting and forecasting activities.
Prepare recurring management reports and financial analysis.
Identify accounting discrepancies and recommend corrective action.
Help improve accounting processes, documentation, and internal controls.
Participate in system implementations, process improvements, and special accounting projects.
Serve as a resource for junior accounting staff and assist with training when needed.
