Job Title:
General Production Worker Job Description The General Production Worker supports a variety of manufacturing operations on a clean, climate-controlled production floor. You will rotate through multiple tasks, follow written work instructions and standard operating procedures, and use basic computer and math skills to complete work accurately. This role involves working with production machinery, performing hands-on tasks, and potentially supporting cleanroom operations that contribute to life-saving medical device products. Responsibilities Work from written work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to complete assigned tasks accurately and safely. Log in and out of jobs using a computer, scanning barcodes or QR codes to track work and production activity. Create and print labels using the company's ERP or computer systems as part of the production process. Perform a variety of hands-on production tasks, including tumbling, CNC feeding, grinding, loading, and running automatic press machines. Operate or assist with laser tubing equipment as directed on the production floor. Rotate between different workstations and tasks as part of cross-training to support overall production needs. Use basic math skills to measure, count, and verify parts or materials as required. Follow all safety guidelines, including the use of required personal protective equipment and adherence to cleanroom rules when applicable. Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle materials and equipment with care. Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members about job status, issues, and any barriers to completing tasks. Participate in initial classroom training and ongoing on-the-job training across different roles and departments. Demonstrate reliability, especially during the first month when training is critical to mastering the role. Follow attendance and communication expectations, including notifying appropriate contacts if you are unable to come to work. Essential Skills At least 1 year of industrial experience in environments such as warehouse, manufacturing, landscaping, trade school, automotive, or other hands-on industrial roles. Ability to work from written work instructions and standard operating procedures. Basic computer skills, including scanning barcodes or QR codes and navigating computer systems or ERP software to log into jobs and create labels. Basic math skills to support counting, measuring, and verifying work. Comfort working with production machinery and performing repetitive, hands-on tasks. Ability to follow detailed safety and quality guidelines, including cleanroom rules when required. Willingness to rotate between tasks and learn multiple roles on the production floor. Strong reliability and consistency in attendance, especially during the initial training period. Clear and respectful communication with team members and supervisors. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with CNC operation is a plus. Experience with electric polishing is an advantage. Background in medical device or other regulated manufacturing environments is beneficial. Comfort working in a cleanroom environment with specific PPE and attire requirements. Openness to structured performance feedback and using metrics to improve skills. Interest in cross-training and long-term career growth within a production environment. Why Work Here? Work Environment The work takes place in a standard manufacturing facility that is clean, well lit, and climate controlled. The environment includes production machinery such as tumblers, CNC equipment, grinding stations, automatic press machines, and laser tubing equipment. Safety glasses and hearing protection are required in certain areas, and all necessary personal protective equipment is provided. Steel-toe footwear and medical certifications are not required. Some roles may involve working in a cleanroom, where employees wear smocks, hair nets, beard nets, and other standard cleanroom PPE, avoid fuzzy clothing, and do not bring water into the cleanroom. Cleanroom work also requires adherence to strict attire rules, including no perfume, jewelry, cosmetics, acrylic nails, or fake eyelashes. The dress code on the production floor includes closed-toe shoes, no shorts or tank tops, and jeans worn at the waist without rips. The schedule follows a Monday-Friday structure, with all employees completing first-shift orientation for the first two days. Standard shifts include first shift from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and second shift from 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., with some flexibility in training assignments. Employees receive two 10-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch, with access to a cafeteria, designated smoking areas, and an open parking lot behind the building for parking, excluding visitor or reserved spaces. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Britain, CT. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.80/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
