Job Description
Position Summary The Encapsulation Process Specialist is responsible for supporting, optimizing, and standardizing machine setup procedures across encapsulation equipment. This role collaborates closely with Production, Engineering, Maintenance, and R&D to ensure equipment is properly configured, operating efficiently, and fully prepared for production. This position plays a key role in driving operational excellence by developing standardized work instructions, supporting product trials, troubleshooting equipment issues, and assisting operators during setups and changeovers. The Encapsulation Process Specialist ensures all processes comply with FDA, cGMP, and NSF requirements while promoting consistency and performance across all encapsulation operations. Key Responsibilities Support machine setups and changeovers across encapsulation equipment Develop, implement, and maintain standardized work instructions (SWIs) Partner with Engineering and R&D to support trials, validations, and new product launches Verify equipment readiness and proper configuration prior to production release Identify process variability and implement improvements to enhance consistency and efficiency Troubleshoot setup and operational issues; provide hands-on support during changeovers Document and maintain critical setup parameters (e.g., dosing, tamping, powder feed, speed settings) Collaborate with Maintenance to resolve recurring equipment issues and implement corrective actions Train and mentor operators on standardized setup procedures and best practices Ensure compliance with FDA, cGMP, NSF, and internal quality standards Promote adherence to 5S, safety, and GMP practices across the production floor Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to drive efficiency and performance Operate encapsulation equipment as needed to support production demands Provide cross-functional support to departments such as blending, packaging, and warehouse operations as needed Perform additional duties related to process optimization and operational support as assigned Minimum Qualifications Education High school diploma or GED required Associate degree or relevant technical certification preferred Experience 2-3 years of experience operating encapsulation or similar manufacturing equipment (dietary supplement, pharmaceutical, or food manufacturing environments preferred) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of encapsulation machine setup and operation Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and process-related issues effectively Working knowledge of manufacturing processes and regulatory standards (cGMP, FDA, NSF) High attention to detail with strong documentation skills Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities Certifications cGMP training required Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma training preferred Work Environment Full-time, onsite position Benefits Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Health Savings Account (HSA) Paid Time Off (PTO) Birthday Holiday
