Job Summary Express Alterations is looking for a dependable, customer-friendly individual to join our team. Sewing experience is preferred, but we are also looking for someone who is eager to learn and develop advanced tailoring skills. This position involves both sewing and working directly with customers, so you must be comfortable speaking with customers confidently and professionally. We are looking for someone who wants to grow their skills, become stronger in professional alterations, and learn advanced tailoring techniques over time. Responsibilities

• Perform clothing alterations including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, resizing, and repairing garments using sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques.
• Use pressing machines and press operation tools to ensure garments are neat, crisp, and professionally finished.
• Assist customers by understanding their alteration needs and offering helpful guidance on garment fit and alteration options.
• Manage multiple alteration projects efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.
• Operate sewing machines on a variety of fabrics including cotton, wool, silk, and synthetics.
• Conduct garment fitting sessions for men's wear, women's wear, and other apparel.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace and properly care for sewing and pressing equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly about alteration needs, timelines, and expectations.
• Be willing to learn and develop advanced tailoring techniques as part of the position. Experience
• Previous experience in sewing, alterations, fashion retail, or a tailoring environment is preferred.
• Basic to intermediate sewing skills are preferred, including familiarity with clothing alterations, garment sewing, stitching techniques, and garment construction.
• Experience using sewing machines, hand-sewing techniques, pressing equipment, and working with different fabric materials is preferred.
• Knowledge of men's wear tailoring, women's wear tailoring, or custom apparel production is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person.
• Ability to take accurate measurements and perform basic math for alterations and garment adjustments.
• Strong customer service skills with a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
• Experience working with a variety of fabrics, including delicate materials, is a plus.
• Most importantly, applicants must be willing to work directly with customers and willing to learn advanced tailoring techniques.

This is a paid position. We are looking for someone who wants to grow their skills and become a stronger tailor while working in a professional, fast-paced alteration shop.

Pay:
