Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and motivated Shipfitter/Welder to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling, welding, and fabricating metal components with precision and adherence to safety standards. Your expertise will contribute to the construction and repair of complex metal structures, ensuring quality workmanship and timely completion of projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse construction and manufacturing sites, utilizing your technical skills to deliver exceptional results. Responsibilities Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and fabrication shop drawings to accurately assemble and fabricate metal structures. Perform welding operations using various techniques including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. Measure and mark materials using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise cuts and fits. Utilize power tools, hand tools, plasma cutters, and machining equipment for cutting, shaping, and assembling sheet metal and other metal materials. Conduct fabrication tasks such as ductwork, sheet metal fabrication, and mechanical assembly on construction sites or in shop environments. Adhere strictly to safety protocols during all welding, cutting, grinding, and assembly activities to maintain a safe working environment. Collaborate with team members to interpret technical drawings accurately and execute fabrication tasks efficiently on construction or manufacturing sites. Skills Extensive construction site experience with a strong understanding of metal fabrication processes. Proficiency in welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints confidently. Skilled in measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and shop math for precise fabrication. Mechanical knowledge related to assembly, machining, plasma cutting, ductwork installation, and mechanical blueprint interpretation. Experience with fabrication shop environments involving sheet metal fabrication and mechanical fabrication tasks.
