This opportunity is ideal for a licensed 3rd Class Engineer looking to progress towards 2nd Class Engineer status while gaining further experience operating boilers, auxiliary plant equipment and critical power generation systems. Power Plant Operator Role:
Assist with the daily operation and maintenance of plant equipment in the field. Operate boilers and auxiliary plant equipment while monitoring system performance and making adjustments as required. Investigate changes in instrument readings and equipment operation, reporting concerns to the Plant Operator and/or Shift Supervisor. Perform turbine, generator, APC and other critical equipment inspections in line with established procedures. Monitor and adjust plant systems safely and accurately, including demineralisation systems and associated processes. Perform water testing and treatment activities while maintaining required boiler water chemistry parameters. Support troubleshooting activities by identifying operating issues and working with maintenance teams to resolve problems. Maintain accurate operating logs, records and documentation to communicate plant status and required work. Maintain clean, organised and safe working areas throughout the facility. Power Plant Operator Requirements:
Minimum 3rd Class Engineer License required. Massachusetts 3rd Engineer's License and Massachusetts Hoisting License (1D / 2C) required, or ability to obtain required licensing within 9 months of hire where applicable. Experience working in power plant operations or a related industrial environment. Knowledge and understanding of steam generating power plant operations. Mechanical skills sufficient to perform equipment inspections, operational adjustments and basic mechanical tasks. Ability to safely work in an industrial plant environment, including areas involving noise, heights, stairs, ladders, confined spaces and required personal protective equipment.
