Double M Recycling, located in Swanton Maryland, is a family-owned and operated local business that buys and processes scrap metals- steel, copper, brass, aluminum etc. Our facility accepts walk-in customers with residential scrap, as well as providing roll-offs and services for industrial scrap. Double M Recycling is a customer-focused company with priority on honesty and helpfulness. We are a growing business looking for a production worker to join our team. Job Summary The Production Worker is responsible for safely processing recyclable materials to meet daily production goals. This position involves sorting, inspecting, loading, unloading, and preparing recyclable materials while operating equipment and maintaining a clean, safe work environment. Production Employees play a key role in supporting efficient recycling operations and ensuring compliance with company safety and environmental standards. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Sort and separate recyclable materials, including metals, and other commodities. Inspect incoming materials for contaminants and remove non-recyclable items. Operate production equipment such as conveyors, balers, compactors, shredders, and forklifts (if certified). Load and unload trucks and transport materials throughout the facility. Process, package, and prepare recyclable materials for shipment. Maintain production quality standards and meet daily productivity goals. Perform routine housekeeping to keep work areas clean and organized. Conduct basic equipment inspections and report maintenance or repair needs. Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and environmental compliance requirements. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Assist with inventory counts and material tracking as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors. Qualifications Previous experience in manufacturing, recycling, warehouse, or industrial production is preferred but not required. Must be able to safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment. Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Strong attendance record and dependable work ethic. Physical Requirements Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, climb, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the workday. Work in indoor and outdoor environments under varying weather conditions. Tolerate exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and moving machinery. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Commitment to workplace safety. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong attention to detail and quality. Good communication and time management skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. Work Environment Industrial recycling facility with exposure to heavy equipment, moving machinery, dust, and varying temperatures.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
