$86,842-$110,466 annually Experienced Motor Winder? Bring Your Expertise to Zephyr Wind. Zephyr Wind is seeking an experienced Senior / Lead Winder to join our team in Hutchinson, Minnesota . This is a hands-on technical leadership position for someone with significant experience rewinding and repairing three-phase electric motors and generators . You'll perform complex winding work while serving as a technical resource and mentor to less-experienced members of the winding team. This is not a traditional people-management role . We're looking for an experienced winder who knows the craft, can independently complete complex rewinds, troubleshoot problems, maintain exceptional quality standards, and help develop the capabilities of the team. This position is based on-site in Hutchinson, MN. Candidates currently located outside the area who are open to relocation are encouraged to apply. What You'll Do As our Senior / Lead Winder, you will: Perform complete rewinds and repairs of three-phase AC motors and generators Complete form coil and random wind applications , including rotor and stator work Analyze motor and generator failures and determine appropriate repair methods Interpret winding diagrams, electrical schematics, manufacturer specifications, and technical documentation Create winding diagrams and winding layouts Perform and/or verify electrical testing, including surge, hi-pot, resistance, polarity, and rotation checks Select and properly use winding materials, including wire, insulation systems, and varnish, with engineering support Troubleshoot complex winding and repair issues Provide hands-on technical guidance, training, and mentoring to less-experienced winders Support quality oversight and ensure completed work meets customer and company requirements Assist in developing training materials and standard work Support process improvement and quality initiatives Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient winding work area Communicate job status, technical concerns, and repair recommendations with supervisors, technicians, and other departments What We're Looking For This position requires hands-on motor winding experience . General electrical, maintenance, or manufacturing experience alone will not substitute for the required winding background. Required Qualifications 5-7+ years of hands-on motor winding experience Strong experience with three-phase motors and generators Advanced knowledge of motor winding and repair practices Experience with three-phase rotor windings Experience with rotor and stator winding applications Ability to independently rewind and repair a variety of motor sizes and configurations Strong understanding of electrical theory related to AC motors and generators Ability to read and interpret winding diagrams, technical drawings, specifications, and electrical test results Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills High attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Strong communication and teamwork skills Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Senior Winder, Lead Winder, Motor Winder, Armature Winder, or similar senior-level winding professional Experience training or mentoring less-experienced winders Experience with form coil and random wind applications Familiarity with EASA, IEEE, or similar industry standards Experience developing winding diagrams, layouts, training materials, or standard work Experience supporting process improvement or quality initiatives Compensation $86,842-$110,466 annually Final compensation will be based on relevant winding experience, technical capabilities, and overall qualifications.
