Job Title:
Finishing Operator Job Description The Finishing Operator trims, finishes, and prepares plastic and aluminum parts to meet precise customer specifications using a variety of hand tools. This role involves carefully removing tabs, inspecting parts, and performing sanding and polishing as needed. The Finishing Operator also counts and packages parts according to requirements, enters process information into a computer system, and verifies that order quantities and customer specifications are fully met while working efficiently in a fast-paced production environment. Responsibilities Trim tabs and excess material from plastic and aluminum parts using hand tools such as hobby knives, utility knives, diagonal-cutting pliers, grinders, and sanders. Measure, trim, polish, and sand parts to ensure they meet customer requirements and quality standards. Inspect parts for defects, accuracy, and finish, and make adjustments or rework as needed. Assemble and finish parts as required to complete production orders. Count and package parts according to order requirements and customer specifications. Enter process and production information into the computer system accurately and in a timely manner. Verify that order quantities, measurements, and customer specifications have been met before releasing completed work. Use production and general labor skills to support overall workflow and efficiency in the finishing area. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling and storage of tools and materials. Work independently while contributing to a team-oriented production environment and meeting daily production goals. Handle and lift materials and parts weighing up to 40 pounds as needed during the finishing and packaging process. Essential Skills At least 6 months of experience working in a manufacturing setting. Ability to comfortably lift up to 40 pounds. Good written and oral communication skills to follow instructions and document work. Ability to use a computer and a calculator to enter and review process information. Basic computer proficiency, with willingness to learn and use internal systems. Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment. Experience using hand tools such as hobby knives, utility knives, diagonal-cutting pliers, grinders, and sanders. Ability to measure, trim, sand, and polish parts with attention to detail. Capability to inspect parts and identify defects or deviations from specifications. Reliability in working independently while following established processes and procedures. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience as a finishing operator, machine operator, or in a similar production role. Experience working with plastic or aluminum parts in a manufacturing environment. Familiarity with trimming, sanding, and finishing processes in a production setting. Comfort using general production equipment and basic hand tools. Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset. Willingness to work various shifts, including day, evening, or overnight schedules as needed. Ability to adapt to a new facility and learn new systems and processes quickly. Why Work Here? You will use a variety of hand tools such as hobby knives, utility knives, diagonal-cutting pliers, grinders, and sanders, as well as computers and calculators to record process information. The work involves standing, handling parts, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Multiple shift options are available, including a standard Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. schedule and extended shifts across weekdays and weekends on both day and night rotations. Dress expectations align with a typical manufacturing and production setting, where practical, safety-oriented attire suitable for working with tools and materials is required. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Plymouth, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.40/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
