Length of Time:
Summer position - starting in May. Department Description The Nido R. Qubein School of Communication is home to ten majors and nine minors, with a faculty and staff numbering around 40. Job Description The Student Production Assistant will provide production and organizational support for NQSC production classes and production projects. Job Location/ Hours Required The candidate will perform most/all job duties in the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication. Hours may vary depending on the job requirements; however, the total number of hours a student employee may work per week is 20 hours. This position requires up to 8 hours per week.
Responsibilities :
Field Production Assistant Work as a senior production team member with Staff Producer's video production crew as often as student's schedule allows.
This may include:
Locating, consolidating, and organizing production gear for a particular shoot Setting up lights Setting up Cinema Camera Teaching other members of the production crew how to use equipment Running the audio portion of the shoot in conjunction with other students Assembling and tearing down, (with assistance) the Jib and the Spider Dolly "Media wrangling" or managing the transfer of acquired media files from the shoot (audio and video) onto the media RAID so that the media cards can be reused. Assisting with organizing and returning gear after shoots Battery management Assist the Producer in keeping the storage spaces for said gear in an organized and safe configuration. Develop a working knowledge of the location of the various types and individual pieces of gear in the NQSC inventory. (For instance, the production assistant should know where all of the individual pieces of the Producer's production gear is located in the building.) Editing Assistant Assist the Staff Producer in post-production efforts as often as student's schedule allows.
This may include:
Producing preliminary edits or "rough cuts" Producing animation
Required Qualifications:
Student should be self-motivated and familiar with all aspects of field production and post-production. Student should be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of camera, lighting, audio, and grip equipment. Student should be willing to address discrepancies in their equipment knowledge. Student should have a working knowledge of editing workflows and Adobe Premiere Pro software. Students should be willing to learn additional post-production software as required.
Desired Skills:
Must have a minimum 2.5 overall GPA
