Job Title:
Brake Press Operator - 1st shift - Up to 25/hr Job Description The Brake Press Operator sets up and operates metal fabrication equipment to cut, form, and prepare parts for processing and shipment. This role involves reading and interpreting blueprints, operating CNC press brakes, bandsaws, and CNC plasma cutters, and performing quality checks to ensure parts meet specifications. The operator also handles material movement, deburring, and general housekeeping to maintain a safe and efficient production area. Responsibilities Operate a bandsaw using blueprints to cut material to specified lengths. Set up and operate a CNC press brake to form parts according to blueprints and work instructions. Operate a CNC plasma cutter to cut stock sheet material to required dimensions. Load, offload, and organize cut parts onto carts and pallets for further processing and shipment. Sort parts onto appropriate carts and pallets to support efficient workflow and order fulfillment. Use deburring machinery to remove burrs and sharp edges from parts, ensuring safe handling and quality finishes. Operate an overhead crane to safely move parts and materials within the facility. Perform quality checks using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools to verify dimensions and tolerances. Use tape measures, hand tools, and inspection tools to confirm accuracy and consistency of fabricated parts. Follow blueprints and fabrication drawings to ensure parts meet design specifications. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by regularly cleaning equipment and surrounding workspace. Collaborate with team members and follow production priorities to meet deadlines and support continuous workflow. Essential Skills Proven experience operating a brake press, CNC plasma cutter, or bandsaw in a production or fabrication environment (brake press experience preferred). Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings accurately. Hands-on experience performing quality checks using micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Proficiency in using tape measures and common hand tools for measuring and fabrication tasks. Experience operating an overhead crane to move parts and materials safely. Background in machine operation and production work, particularly in metal fabrication. Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts. Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous experience in a similar machine shop or fabrication environment. Experience with CNC press brakes, CNC saws, and plasma cutters in a custom fabrication setting. Familiarity with fabrication processes related to conveyor lines and systems. Comfort working with inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges for dimensional verification. Strong reliability and attendance record in prior roles. This is a direct hire, hourly position on a first shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The shop operates as a union environment, with membership and associated benefits starting after a 60-day period. Work involves operating CNC press brakes, bandsaws, CNC plasma cutters, deburring equipment, and overhead cranes in a production setting. The environment emphasizes safety, consistent attendance, and adherence to established policies, including a structured attendance standard. Employees work with metal fabrication equipment and materials in a shop setting that requires safe work practices, proper use of tools and machinery, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Waterville, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
