With more than four decades of experience in the leather industry, Will Adler has built a brand centered on full-grain leather, thoughtful construction, and products designed to be carried and used for years. We are looking for an experienced Leather Goods Sewer / Industrial Sewing Specialist to join our team in Eugene, Oregon. About the Position This is a hands-on position for someone with a creative eye who knows how to work with leather and canvas and understands the precision required to construct well-made goods. The right candidate has professional experience sewing leather or other heavy materials using industrial sewing equipment. Experience producing bags, handbags, wallets, accessories, footwear, upholstery, outdoor gear, or similar constructed products is strongly preferred. This is not an alterations or apparel sewing position. We are looking for someone who understands product construction and takes pride in clean, consistent, precise work. Responsibilities
- Sew and assemble leather components for bags and accessories
- Operate industrial sewing machines used for leather and heavy materials
- Follow patterns, samples, specifications, and construction instructions
- Work accurately with leather, linings, webbing, zippers, hardware, and other components
- Maintain consistent stitch quality, seam placement, and construction standards
- Inspect work throughout the production process for accuracy and quality
- Identify construction or production issues and communicate them to the team
- Assist with samples, prototypes, repairs, and production as needed
- Maintain an organized workspace and properly care for sewing equipment
- Work collaboratively with our product and production teams
Experience & Skills Required:
- Professional sewing experience using industrial sewing machines
- Experience working with leather, heavy fabrics, upholstery materials, outdoor gear, footwear, bags, or similar products
- Strong understanding of sewing and product construction
- Ability to follow patterns, samples, and detailed specifications
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
- Ability to produce clean, consistent work
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team Especially valuable:
- Direct experience constructing leather bags, handbags, wallets, belts, or accessories
- Experience with walking-foot or other industrial leather sewing machines
- Experience in leather-goods manufacturing or small-batch production
- Pattern, sample-making, or prototype experience
