Job Title:
Fab Operator Job Description The Fab Operator plays a key role in semiconductor wafer manufacturing by operating production equipment, handling wafers in a cleanroom environment, and ensuring products meet quality and safety standards. This role works a fixed 12-hour day shift on an every-other-week schedule and involves running wafers through various process steps, performing inspections, and accurately recording production data. Responsibilities Run finished wafers through various chemical baths and testing processes according to established procedures. Process wafers through heat treatment steps while following detailed process instructions. Package finished products safely and accurately for transport or shipment. Transport wafers between process steps and work areas while maintaining strict handling protocols. Exercise careful wafer handling techniques to prevent loss or damage due to carelessness. Complete batch divide process steps as needed to support production flow. Load and unload wafers into and out of production tools and equipment. Stage incoming work and materials as needed to maintain continuous production. Process wafers through post-clean operations and accurately enter data into Excel spreadsheets and production systems (such as GIP). Load process recipes into production tool computers and verify correct setup before running wafers. Collect production and process data continuously and input it accurately into designated systems. Maintain 5S standards by organizing work areas, tools, and materials for efficiency and cleanliness. Perform continuous housekeeping of process tools and the immediate floor and wall space around the equipment. Conduct visual inspections of wafers, including both the front and back sides, to identify defects or irregularities. Perform pad changes and other routine maintenance tasks on tools as assigned. Provide detailed pass downs at the end of each shift, documenting work completed, tool status, and any issues for the next shift. Operate multiple machines simultaneously once fully trained and proficient. Follow all safety requirements and cleanroom protocols at all times, including proper use of PPE and cleanroom garments. Use PCs, printers, scanners, basic hand tools, and cleaning equipment to support manufacturing processes. Perform other related duties as assigned or directed to support production goals. Essential Skills Ability to be trained on new manufacturing processes and follow detailed work instructions. Ability to maintain excellent attendance and reliability for 12-hour shifts. English speaking and reading skills sufficient to read process documents and understand instructions. High level of teamwork and cooperation to work effectively with other operators and support staff. Ability to strictly follow safety requirements and protocols at all times. Understanding of basic math functions, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Strong self-initiative with a desire to learn, improve skills, and be effective in the role. High attention to detail with the ability to listen carefully and follow directions precisely. Ability to use manufacturing process equipment, a PC, and peripherals such as printers and scanners. Ability to use basic hand tools, cleaning supplies, and cleaning equipment safely and correctly. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Prior cleanroom experience preferred. Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, fab operations, or general production is beneficial. Previous machine operating experience in a manufacturing environment is an advantage. Comfort working in a cleanroom environment while wearing full PPE and cleanroom garments. Willingness to be cross-trained in multiple wafer manufacturing areas to expand skills and responsibilities. Why Work Here? Work Environment This position operates in a cleanroom environment that requires wearing a full cleanroom "bunny suit" and other personal protective equipment throughout the shift. The role follows a fixed day schedule of 6:00 am to 6:30 pm on an every-other-week rotation (FHD S-M-T), and the training schedule may differ depending on operational needs. Work involves standing for extended periods, moving between tools, and handling wafers and equipment in a controlled environment. You will work with semiconductor production tools, heat treatment equipment, computers, Excel spreadsheets, production software systems, and standard peripherals such as printers and scanners, as well as basic hand tools and cleaning equipment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hillsboro, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
