Position Overview The Designer plays a critical role in conceptualizing, developing, and refining commercial furniture solutions that meet client needs, adhere to brand standards, and align with manufacturing capabilities. This position blends creativity, space-planning expertise, and technical proficiency to support both custom and catalog product development. The ideal candidate has strong aesthetic judgment, a deep understanding of materials and furniture construction, and the ability to translate ideas into compelling visual and technical outputs. Key Responsibilities Design & Concept Development Create innovative, functional, and aesthetically aligned commercial furniture concepts for workplace, hospitality, education, and healthcare environments. Develop sketches, renderings, mood boards, and 3D visualizations to communicate design intent. Technical Drawings & Specifications Produce detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and production-ready files using software such as AutoCAD and CET Prepare specification documents, bill of materials (BOMs), finish selections, and presentation materials. Project Collaboration Work closely with sales teams, project managers, and clients to understand requirements and deliver tailored design solutions. Participate in design charrettes, client presentations, and internal reviews. Documentation & Communication Maintain organized project files, specifications, and design documentation. Communicate design decisions effectively to internal and external stakeholders. Provide ongoing support for product updates, custom modifications, and design clarifications. Qualifications Required 2-5 years of design experience (commercial furniture industry preferred).
Proficiency in industry-standard design software:
Cap 2020, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, CET, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar. Strong understanding of furniture construction, materials, ergonomics, and manufacturing processes. Excellent visual communication, presentation, and storytelling skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Experience with commercial interiors, workplace solutions, or contract furniture. Familiarity with sustainability practices, certifications (e.g., LEED), and material performance standards.
