Job Description

Job Overview Join our new fast growing shop! As a Painters Helper/Shop Hand at Ellis Custom Paint and Body you'll be a vital part of transforming vehicles through expert painting and restoration projects! This mid-experienced role offers an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in custom vehicle painting and shop operations. You'll support the manager and owner Thomas Ellis, by preparing vehicles to go into paint, assisting with prep consists of washing vehicles, removing all exterior parts from a vehicle, blocking or sanding the vehicle, identifying defects, taping up the vehicle, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. If you're eager to witness and partake in a local company start from nothing and grow substantially, we'd love to hear from you. Duties Assist with automotive preparation including sanding, cutting, buffing, priming, taping, deconstruction, reconstruction and minor body repairs Support painter with handling hand tools, power tools, paint spraying and setup Help with the mixing of paints, primers, and stains according to color theory principles for accurate color matching Maintain a clean work area by organizing tools, disposing of debris, and ensuring safety protocols are followed on-site Read basic procedures and understand simple instructions Support with supplies runs, break down vehicles and put them back together without damaging fresh paint, tapping off the vehicle preping before paint, understanding grit paper and bondo filler and its uses, as needed during projects Assist in the setup and cleanup of each assignment & maintain proper documentation Experience Prior experience in automotive painting, vehicle restoration or general mechanics is required; on-the-job training will be provided as needed Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, vehicles, and basic math skills for measurements and estimations Knowledge of insurance estimates, vehicle mechanisms, fabrication, welding, restoration services is a plus but not mandatory A proactive attitude towards learning new techniques such as spraying paint or primer will set you apart Join us to develop your skills in a supportive environment that values growth, family values and craftsmanship.
