Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Welder Helper to join our dynamic fabrication team. In this role, you will support skilled welders by preparing materials, assisting with welding tasks, and ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained throughout the fabrication process. This position offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in metal fabrication, blueprint reading, and welding techniques while working on diverse construction and manufacturing projects. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, safety-conscious, and ready to contribute to a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Assist welders with setting up welding equipment and preparing metal materials such as sheet metal and structural components. Measure and mark materials accurately using calipers, micrometers, measuring instruments, and shop math to ensure precise fabrication. Support the interpretation of mechanical blueprints and technical drawings to facilitate correct assembly and fabrication processes. Operate hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and other fabrication equipment safely and efficiently. Help with the assembly of metal structures, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and AWS (American Welding Society) standards. Maintain a clean work area, organize tools and materials, and follow safety procedures at all times on construction sites or in the fabrication shop. Collaborate with team members on welding tasks such as FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding, TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding, SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding), and gas metal arc welding processes. Skills Construction site experience combined with a solid understanding of metal fabrication principles. Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and mechanical blueprints interpretation. Knowledge of welding techniques including FCAW, MIG, TIG, SMAW, and welding standards. Ability to use measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and shop math for precise measurements. Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, plasma cutting equipment, machining tools, and safety protocols. Mechanical knowledge related to assembly, fabrication shop operations, machining processes, and construction experience. Strong attention to detail with excellent communication skills for effective teamwork in fast-paced environments.
