DESCRIPTION
The Production Line Lead is a critical, hands-on floor role responsible for overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of assigned manufacturing lines. Serving as the bridge between plant management and frontline staff, this role ensures daily shift goals and schedules are met efficiently without compromising quality. The top priority for this position is maintaining an uncompromising culture of personnel safety and food safety. The ideal candidate will possess a sharp eye for detail, and the ability to lead, coach, and verify compliance across their team in a fast-paced environment.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), allergen controls, and strict sanitation workflows across the line. Partner with the Quality Assurance team to execute routine quality checks, weights, and product specifications. Identify and isolate out-of-specification products or materials to manage waste and prevent contamination. Personnel Safety & Compliance Promote a zero-accident workplace culture by actively monitoring the proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety rules. Conduct routine workplace hazard assessments and maintain a clean, organized environment. Floor Leadership & Operations Direct shift activities and allocate labor optimally across stations to maximize line workflow and efficiency. Onboard and train line workers on standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety workflows, and equipment operations. Coordinate seamless shift handovers, documenting performance metrics, material tracking, yields, and downtime. Perform basic mechanical troubleshooting and quickly escalate equipment defects or maintenance bottlenecks to minimize downtime. Step in to operate equipment and perform hands-on tasks during peak periods or personnel shortages to preserve production continuity.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE
Experience & Education High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a food processing or manufacturing facility. Strong understanding of HACCP guidelines, food safety standards, and manufacturing workflows. Prior leadership experience (such as trainer, backup lead, or coordinator) is highly preferred. Skills & Competencies Bilingual skills (English/Punjabi) are a strong asset for managing floor-level communications. Excellent organizational and documentation skills with high attention to detail. Ability to translate production schedules into structured, detailed tasks for line employees. Calm under pressure with strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills. Physical Demands Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis. Physical endurance to stand, walk, bend, and twist for extended periods on a concrete manufacturing floor.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Primarily the production floor, which features variable temperatures (ranging from cold storage to hot processing areas). Exposure to wet environment conditions, industrial cleaning chemicals, and loud machinery requiring hearing protection.
