Job Description
Kirwan Surgical Products LLC is a mid-sized company based in Marshfield, MA, specializing in the development of high-quality instruments for microsurgical specialties, including ophthalmology; ear, nose, and throat; plastic and reconstructive surgery; and orthopedic surgery. We are currently seeking a Quality Control Inspector with calibration experience to join our team. This role is responsible for inspecting medical devices in a controlled environment to ensure compliance with quality standards. Key Responsibilities A typical day includes inspecting and testing products, ordering labels, and cleaning products. Ensure all parts produced meet documented company and customer quality standards Identify, report, and document any nonconforming products Interpret engineering drawings and specifications, including technical terminology Develop a working knowledge of the Quality Management System, including ISO 13485 and QSR requirements (training provided) Follow strict hygienic practices to prevent product contamination Perform routine calibration, verification, and maintenance of measuring and testing equipment Maintain accurate calibration records in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Production teams to ensure equipment reliability Qualifications Associate degree or technical certification in engineering technology, electronics, metrology, or a related field preferred 1-3 years of calibration or metrology experience in a manufacturing or regulated environment preferred Familiarity with precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, indicators) Strong attention to detail and excellent documentation skills Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications Basic computer proficiency; experience with calibration management systems or databases is a plus (Microsoft 365 and Excel are used) Experience in medical device manufacturing or ISO/FDA-regulated environments is helpful, but not required Work Environment Manufacturing and quality control setting Regular handling of precision instruments and small components Occasional lifting of equipment up to 25 lbs
