Quality / Machine Shop Overview We are seeking a hands-on Quality Assurance Manager to lead quality operations in a manual and legacy machine shop environment. This role combines team leadership with technical expertise to ensure parts, assemblies, and maintenance work meet mechanical tolerances, safety standards, and production quality requirements. The ideal candidate has strong experience with manual machine tools and mechanical systems, leads by example, and drives continuous improvement across inspection and quality processes. Key Responsibilities Lead and mentor QA inspectors; ensure accountability for quality performance. Oversee inspection and QA activities for manual machining, restoration, and maintenance work. Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions. Maintain inspection standards, documentation, and traceability. Partner with operations and maintenance teams to improve processes and reduce defects. Enforce safety standards including lockout/tag out and machine guarding. Support training and development of QA staff and inspection procedures. Required Qualifications 5-7+ years of experience in QA, inspection, or mechanical maintenance in a manual or legacy machine shop. 1+ year of experience leading or supervising QA staff. Strong knowledge of legacy machine tools and hydraulic/pneumatic systems. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Experience with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges). Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills. Preferred Experience developing QA processes and inspection standards. Background in preventive maintenance and reliability improvement. Experience mentoring technical or inspection teams. Proficiency with QA documentation, reporting, or spreadsheets. Work Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work around manual machinery safely. Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
