Job Description

Company Overview Our company is a fast-paced, highly successful manufacturer of custom sheet metal and structural metal parts. We pride ourselves by going "above and beyond" to satisfy our customers, and on having a team-based culture rooted in respect and appreciation for the people that make this possible, our employees. Position Summary We are seeking a versatile, energetic, and to take full ownership of our quality control and assurance processes. Because we are a lean and agile team, this is not a "desk-only" management role.
You will wear multiple hats:
serving as the strategic voice setting quality policies, acting as the primary point of contact for customer quality inquiries, and actively working on the production floor conducting physical product inspections and completing First Article Inspection Reports. If you love variety, enjoy shifting between high-level strategy and technical execution, and want to truly own a quality department, this role is for you.
Key Responsibilities High-Level:
Strategy, Policy & Customer Relations (30%) Develop, implement, and maintain the company's quality management policies, procedures, and safety standards. Act as the primary interface with customers regarding quality requirements, complaints, audits, and corrective actions. Identify areas for continuous improvement and drive initiatives to reduce waste and defects.
Mid-Level:
Documentation & Technical Reporting (30%) Create, review, and approve First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs). Maintain accurate quality documentation, including calibration logs, inspection records, and non-conformance reports (NCRs). Generate agency compliance documentation (REACH, RoHS, CA Proposition 65, etc.) Analyze quality data and metrics to present leadership with actionable recommendations.
Hands-On:
Floor Inspection & Testing (40%) Perform routine incoming, in-process, and final physical inspections of parts and products. Utilize standard precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, etc.) to verify product compliance. Isolate non-conforming materials and work with production to resolve immediate quality issues on the floor. Perform hands-on production work and other jobs as needed.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
5+ years of experience in a quality control/assurance role, preferably within a small to mid-sized manufacturing or production environment. Sheet metal fabrication background is a plus.
Technical Skills:
Strong experience drafting First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and reading technical blueprints/drawings.
Tools:
Proficient with standard inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.).
Soft Skills:
Excellent communication skills with the confidence to handle customer complaints professionally and collaborate effectively with floor staff.
Mindset:
A "no task too small" attitude. You are just as comfortable writing a company-wide quality policy as you are opening a box on the loading dock to inspect parts. Why Join Us? We believe that our commitment to quality starts with our commitment to our people. We pride ourselves on building a culture rooted in respect, where every voice is heard and every team member is genuinely cared for. We offer the opportunity for you to grow while we grow, to truly shape and own the quality organization, and to earn excellent pay and benefits for your efforts. If you are looking for a place where your expertise is valued, your professional growth is supported, and your daily work makes a real impact, we'd love to have you on our team.
