As a Mike Hooks Quality Control Manager, you will be an integral part of our marine based dredging company. In this position, you will learn to utilize engineering principles taking part in project layout, topographic and hydrographic surveying, production guidance, monitoring, reporting, and dredging quality control. You will have the opportunity to collaborate and work with other talented team members. This position will report directly to a senior level Field Engineer. Division Overview Mike Hooks is a respected marine contractor that owns, operates, and maintains a diverse and extensive fleet of dredging and support equipment. We serve customers that require dredging for navigation and restoration, in turn maintaining the waterways that transport goods and fortifying our infrastructure and coastlines. Mike Hooks provides a cohesive dredging services lifecycle. We specialize in both capital and maintenance dredging for deep or shallow draft navigation, as well as coastal restoration and protection. The division employs a talented and motivated workforce that includes managers, engineers, technicians, and support personnel — all with experience and qualifications that are second to none. Our primary objective is to deliver exceptional customer service in the spirit of partnership, while upholding the highest levels of safety, environmental sensitivity, and operational efficiency. This is an hourly position that pays overtime if working more than 40 hours in a work week. Essential Job Functions Train to increase scope of knowledge, skills and understanding of Hydrographic surveying and reporting requirements Train to provide dredge with accurate surveys and vessel guidance to ensure accurate production measurements and correct location of channel, as per contract Train to provide hydrographic surveys required for project monitoring and payment quantities Assist in maintaining accurate documentation of survey activities Develop understanding of survey activities Provide daily support of dredge procurement requirements Assist in the generation of daily reports and assembly and maintenance of proper job records Provide support in the maintenance of vehicle and equipment assigned to project QC Manager The QC Manager is responsible for overseeing the quality control aspects of the project, ensuring compliance with environmental requirements, contract specifications, dredge operations compliance, submittal management, and overall coordination and planning. The QC Manager would need a broad view of the project to manage and strategize effectively.
Understanding all contract types, dredging templates, pay items/reaches, identifying submittal items, personnel requirements, and other contract requirements
Dredge Operations :
Overseeing safety, environmental compliance, upland placement/weir boxes, beach fill, marsh creation, open water placement, pipeline types, discharge methods/attachments
Submittals :
Identifying per contract requirements, managing (including spear-pointing those prepared by others), reviewing, RMS (Creating Register, Submitting Transmittals)
CQM/Three-Phase System :
Overseeing the phases (Preparatory, Initial, Follow-up), preparing agendas/conducting meetings, certification
Coordination :
Supervisor/Project Manager (with Surveys, Production, Submittals, Schedule, Contract Requirements, Needs), Captain (with Daily Operations, Surveys/Cross Sections, Run Time & Non-Effective Time, Placement Areas/Locations/Requirements, Upcoming Work)
Planning :
Identifying Required Survey Reaches, Forecasting Based on
