Job Description:
The Quality Advisor supports execution of project Quality Management activities across multiple capital projects in the Oil and Gas sector. The role ensures that project teams, contractors, and suppliers comply with established quality systems, standards, and procedures, including OIMS (Operations Integrity Management System) requirements. This position may act as the Quality Manager during early project phases or when a dedicated Quality Manager is not assigned. Key Responsibilities Project Quality Assurance and Functional Oversight Conduct Functional Assurance reviews to verify project alignment with corporate quality standards and OIMS expectations Evaluate effectiveness of the Project Quality Management System (PQMS) and recommend improvements Provide ongoing oversight of quality execution across engineering, procurement, and construction phases Review and interpret project specifications, standards, and quality requirements Project Planning and Execution Support Support development of early phase deliverables within EMCAPS (ExxonMobil Capital Project Management System) Contribute to project execution planning, including quality strategies and resource planning Provide input into Quality staffing plans based on project scope and complexity Define and implement quality processes, procedures, and tools to support project delivery Quality Coordination and Interface Management Coordinate Quality activities across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Project Controls teams Ensure consistent application of quality requirements across all project stakeholders Facilitate communication between project teams, contractors, and suppliers on quality matters Audit, Assessment, and Compliance Plan and execute internal and external audits of contractors, suppliers, and project teams Conduct quality assessments and peer reviews to identify gaps and risks Track and manage non conformance reports (NCRs), corrective actions, and close out activities Ensure audit findings are resolved in a timely and documented manner Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement Analyze quality metrics, KPIs, and performance reports to identify trends and issues Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions Identify opportunities for process improvement and standardization Participate in development and maintenance of quality tools and systems Quality Resource Support and Development Assist in staffing and deployment of Quality personnel across projects Provide training, onboarding, and mentoring to Quality team members Support integration of early career professionals into project quality roles Technical Support and Issue Resolution Provide guidance on complex quality issues related to engineering, fabrication, and construction Support resolution of technical non conformances and field quality challenges Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements Required Technical Skills Experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) within EPC or construction projects Knowledge of engineering, procurement, and construction workflows Familiarity with audit processes, inspections, and quality documentation systems Ability to apply industry codes and standards such as
ASME, API, AWS, ISO
Experience with root cause analysis methodologies and corrective action systems Certifications Technical or trade certifications aligned with the discipline Preferred certifications include API (American Petroleum Institute) certifications ASQ (American Society for Quality), such as CQA or
CQE NACE
(coating inspection) or AWS (welding inspection), depending on the scope Minimum Experience 5 to 10 years of experience in Oil and Gas, Energy, or related industrial projects Experience supporting capital projects or EPC environments Exposure to both field construction and project quality systems Preferred Qualifications Experience working with systems such as EMCAPS and OIMS Prior experience acting as Quality Lead or Quality Manager on projects Experience with contractor and supplier quality management Exposure to global or multi-site projects Work Environment and Requirements Willingness to travel to project sites, including domestic and international locations Ability to work in office and field environments Capable of supporting multiple projects simultaneously
