Job Title:
QMS Specialist Job Description The QMS Specialist is responsible for the coordination, supervision, and operation of specific quality management system tasks and functions. This role ensures various training, education, auditing, calibration, supplier quality assurance, continuous improvement, and other related activities are executed in accordance with the quality management system. Additionally, the specialist will oversee the day-to-day coordination and administration of tasks, ensuring quality and productivity standards are maintained while meeting required schedules. Responsibilities Coordinate with other contract and subcontract personnel to ensure smooth workflow between functional areas. Provide written quality management system management plans, instructions, task status analysis, cost reports, and other related documents. Ensure all administrative tools are effectively used to control and accomplish tasks. Assist with writing procedures and other documentation. Manage status and task management reports. Perform receiving inspection of purchased parts and subassemblies, verifying supplier compliance with all purchase order requirements, specifications, and/or drawing requirements. Conduct dimensional inspections using hand-held instruments to measure parts and assemblies to drawing requirements. Perform in-process inspections of assembled hardware per drawing requirements, verifying the accuracy of entries on data sheets, work orders, adhesive mixes, and other data-keeping systems. Perform final inspections of assembled hardware per drawing requirements, liaising with the program Quality Engineer. Accurately document the results of inspections. Perform quality review of work orders prior to closure, verifying count and condition of parts or assemblies, ensuring all operations are complete and associated kit lists are accurate. Perform source inspections at sub-tier suppliers, as needed. Essential Skills High school diploma. General knowledge of manufacturing and quality processes and methods. 5+ years of working experience with manufacturing and/or quality. 4+ years of working experience with quality management systems, e.g., AS9100 / ISO9001 requirements. 3+ years of work experience with quality inspection in a high reliability, small batch, high variety manufacturing environment. Experience with training and education in quality management systems, quality control, and manufacturing environments. Experience conducting quality management system audits. Experience with supplier quality assurance. Experience with continuous improvement and calibration processes and methods. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in using Windows computers, Microsoft Office apps, and quality management software and tools. Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. Experience in aerospace technology, products, and processes. Quality management system certifications. Work Environment The role involves working within a structured quality management environment, utilizing various technologies and equipment to ensure compliance with industry standards. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and may involve occasional travel for source inspections at sub-tier suppliers. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Goleta, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $46.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
