Quality Control Inspector II Status:
Full-Time, Hourly (Non-Exempt) Reports to: Quality Manager Work Environment This job requires work in a production environment in both the electronics inspection and receiving areas. Physical demands while performing the duties of this job; The employee is regularly required to sit or stand at their desk for extended periods of time, performing inspection and data entry. While performing inspections, the employee must able to use various optical inspection tools (microscopes, cameras, magnifiers, calipers, etc.), and be capable of moving and lifting assemblies while adhering to all company safety regulations and procedures. Strong command of both written and oral English communications is required. The employee may be required to kneel, crouch, or lift in order to inspect assemblies. The employee must also be capable of moving about the production floor in a manner that would allow them to safely traverse the area while various types of power sources, loads, and test equipment are in operation. Quality Control Inspector Purpose :
Perform final test and inspection of in-process and outbound assemblies and material. Perform visual, electrical and assembly-related mechanical in-process and final inspection of parts, subassemblies, assemblies and perform shipping inspection. Assist the QA Manager and/or Supervisor with nonconformance or quality incident reporting, root cause investigations and corrective action implementation throughout the organization. This position will assure compliance to company specifications, drawings and industry specifications.
Quality Control Inspector Job Duties:
Perform basic inspection of in-process material, subassemblies, or products to ensure consistency with applicable documentation and specifications. Inspect products for solder, mechanical assembly, wiring and workmanship defects; reject and return unacceptable materials. Check physical appearance of parts, subassemblies and assemblies for adherence to established industry workmanship standards, such as damage, solder quality, component orientation, and wiring. Inform the Production Supervisor of assembly problems and generate non-conformance tickets/documents. Compare work order/document package to the assembly for correct part number, drawing, revision, as-required approval(s), and Engineering Change Order(s). Support quality audits relative to established procedures and work instructions. Assist with internal audits of the Quality Management System. Segregate rejected material from accepted material, controlling such until disposition is made; prepare acceptance documents as appropriate for finished products. Perform returned material shipping inspections as needed. Record inspection results on quality control records and forms. Assist operating departments with corrective actions. Keep measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calling for repairs. Perform first-article inspections. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, and complying with legal regulations. Work with minimum supervision; manage several tasks or projects concurrently. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
Analytical and problem-solving mindset; methodic, organized, and able to manage time effectively. Ability to read and interpret drawings, datasheets, and technical documentation. Working knowledge of electric and electronic components and assemblies. Knowledge of
ASME Y14.5
(dimensioning & tolerancing) standard preferred. Knowledge of
IPC/WHMA-A-620
standard preferred. ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) certification preferred. Six Sigma Green Belt certification, a plus. Knowledge of
ISO 9001 / AS9100
standards preferred. Knowledge of
ISO 2859-1
sampling standards preferred. Ability to interact effectively across departments (Engineering, Production, Planning, Quality Engineering). Working knowledge of
PCB-A-610
standard preferred. Strong ethical and professional behavior; capability of working both independently and in team settings. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Access data entry.. Ability to interact and communicate with internal suppliers. Excellent communications, both verbal and written. Education/ Experience High School Diploma or GED and 2+ year(s) of related QC/QA inspection experience.
