Newark, CA Job Summary:
The QC Inspector - IQC Level 2 is responsible for performing incoming quality inspections of materials, components, and subassemblies to ensure conformance with customer and internal quality standards. This role involves interpreting detailed quality specifications, using advanced inspection tools, documenting results accurately, and initiating non-conformance reports. The Level 2 Inspector works with moderate independence, assists in supplier quality management, and supports training of junior inspection staff. The position requires a strong understanding of IPC standards, quality procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Perform detailed incoming inspections on materials and components using defined procedures, customer requirements, and
IPC-610/IPC-600
standards. Document inspection outcomes accurately, maintain quality records, and input data into ERP and quality management systems. Identify and isolate non-conforming materials, issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and communicate effectively with suppliers and internal teams to initiate corrective actions. Support supplier quality improvements by participating in root cause analysis, corrective action follow-up, and quality meetings. Provide guidance, training, and mentoring to QC Inspector Level 1 personnel. Assist in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with
ISO 9001, ISO
13485, and
ISO 14001
standards. Maintain cleanliness and order in the inspection area and adhere to ESD, safety, and quality protocols consistently. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and supply chain, to resolve quality issues and improve processes. Participate actively in continuous improvement and 5S initiatives to enhance inspection efficiency and workplace organization.
Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent; additional technical certification preferred. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in incoming quality inspection or related quality assurance roles within an EMS or manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of IPC-610, IPC-600, and customer-specific inspection requirements. Proficient in using various inspection tools and equipment. Experience with quality documentation, NCR management, and ERP systems. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently with moderate supervision and collaborate well within teams. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality standards and safety practices.
