You understand CMMs, optical measurement, 3D scanning, GD&T, fixturing, and datum strategy, and you take pride in building accurate, reliable, and repeatable measurement processes. You are comfortable helping establish a new metrology lab, developing procedures, training others, and supporting both research and production teams.
This position pays:
$38-$52 What you will be doing Prepare the facility for instrument arrival by verifying environmental controls, vibration isolation, power, and bench requirements against manufacturer specifications. Manage the receipt, installation, calibration, commissioning, and operational readiness of metrology equipment. Develop SOPs, safety procedures, measurement methods, and operator qualification standards for each instrument. Perform initial operations on new equipment and create internal manuals and reference documentation. Establish calibration schedules, measurement traceability, and gage R&R practices to ensure measurement uncertainty is understood and controlled. Source, organize, store, and maintain inventory of fixtures, probes, styli, standards, and other metrology supplies. Inspect parts against engineering drawings and GD&T requirements for both research and production needs. Generate accurate measurement data in formats that can be effectively used by engineering, production, and other downstream teams. Partner with machine tool and process teams when parts are out of specification and provide measurement feedback to improve manufacturing processes. Support the safe, compliant, and reliable operation of metrology equipment while maintaining equipment readiness and uptime. What you bring Hands-on experience with dimensional metrology, including CMM programming and operation, optical measurement, and 3D scanning. Strong understanding of fixturing, datum strategy, GD&T, and engineering drawing interpretation. Experience with calibration, measurement traceability, and evaluating measurement uncertainty. Familiarity with optical microscopy, spectroscopy, surface metrology, and mechanical testing equipment. Experience working with measurement software and organizing measurement data for use by other teams. Strong attention to detail and the ability to distinguish actual part deviations from measurement artifacts. Excellent problem-solving skills and a service-oriented approach when supporting research and production teams. Ability to work independently, take ownership, and establish processes in a developing manufacturing environment.
