Job Description
SUMMARY
- Experienced with inspecting of fabricated sheet metal, and detailed component parts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Inspector A can complete essential duties without any assistance
- Inspector B requires some assistance to complete essential duties
- Must be very reliable, quick to learn and a self-starter.
- Inspect incoming and in-process components, sub-assemblies, and assemblies for conformance to product drawings and specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of inspection activities, including device history records, and documentation of quality deficiencies.
- Assisting Manufacturing in the floor surveillance of manufactured product, safety and equipment.
- Perform basic first Piece inspection and audit, in process and final product.
- Follow documented procedures, and coordinate activities while providing continues support to other departments.
- Supports QMS program by following approved policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
- Reads and interprets blue prints, schematics, and instructions per
ISO 9001
2015.- Maintain clean work area (apply 5s to work area).
- Examines layout and installation of manufactured units, subassemblies, and hardware components to detect assembly errors.
- Confirms documents to ensure that all assembly, inspecting, and testing steps were performed according to specifications.
- Uses testing and inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, vision systems, toolmakers, height gauges, pin gauges and other special purpose inspection tools.
- Understands and uses statistical and standard AQL sampling plans.
- Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering work orders, inspection specifications, and written instructions.
- Maintains and documents incoming inspection records on parts and writes detailed first article reports.
- May have to support customer source, or production requiring the inspector to work through normal break times, and lunch to accommodate customer / production needs. Quality, System & Housekeeping Discipline
- Perform basic visual inspections to ensure parts meet quality requirements.
- Identify parts for inspection as required by quality procedures.
- Accurately update travelers and system transactions as instructed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Follow all safety, quality, and standard work requirements.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum should have HS diploma and certificate, degree from technical school required. AA or equivalent technical training and/or relevant experience is a plus.
- 2+ years related QA experience/training is accepted in lieu of AA or technical training.
- Experience in manufacturing/production a plus.
- PC Skills preferred, and exposure with sheet metal, liquid / powder coat environments.
- Familiarized with ISO9001: 2015/ AS9100D, ANSI 14.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret common instructions.
- Bilingual in Spanish a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Basic math relating to engineering.
ITAR REQUIRED SKILLS
- Strong knowledge of visual inspection techniques for metal fabrication, machined parts and painted parts and assemblies.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (basic level), and manufacturing documentation.
- Working knowledge of aerospace industry standards is a plus.
- Basic understanding of dimensional inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers).
- Attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Proficient in using Office and Windows based software. Essential Functions & Physical Requirements
- Physical demands (lifting up to 35 - 50lbs) when needed.
- Pushing up to 50lbs when needed
- Loading and unloading material (25lbs)
- Walking about 10%
- Stationed about 85%
- Knelling, squatting, bending, twisting when needed 5%
