R D Quality Control Inspector Direct Hire Position Torrance, CA $40-45/hr Job Description This hands-on Quality Control Inspector role focuses on performing receiving inspections, in-process inspections, and quality verification activities across a suite of portable energy storage products. You work closely with Production, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to ensure that all products meet internal quality standards and customer requirements. In this position, you inspect supplier hardware, review technical documentation and certifications, document non-conformances, support quality management system initiatives, and help drive continuous improvement throughout build operations. Responsibilities Perform receiving inspections on incoming mechanical and electrical hardware to verify conformance to specifications, drawings, and certifications. Conduct in-process inspections during manufacturing and assembly to ensure products meet internal quality standards and customer requirements. Inspect supplier hardware and components, confirming compliance with engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and technical documentation. Review and interpret technical documentation, including engineering drawings, vendor material certifications, and paperless work instructions. Document non-conformances in a clear and accurate manner, ensuring proper reporting and traceability within quality management systems. Support corrective action processes by participating in root cause analysis and recommending improvements to prevent recurrence of quality issues. Collaborate directly with engineers, technicians, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement in build operations. Apply and enforce ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management system requirements within daily inspection and quality assurance activities. Participate in material review board activities, evaluating non-conforming materials and assisting in disposition decisions. Support supplier quality efforts by providing feedback on hardware quality, documentation, and adherence to specifications. Verify mechanical and electrical assemblies for proper integration, fit, function, and workmanship throughout the manufacturing process. Utilize manufacturing quality systems and paperless work instructions to record inspection results and maintain accurate quality records. Ensure compliance with OSHA and workplace safety standards while performing inspections in field and manufacturing environments. Communicate inspection findings, non-conformances, and quality concerns clearly and professionally in both written and verbal form. Independently enforce quality standards and procedures, escalating issues when necessary to protect product reliability and customer satisfaction. Manage multiple inspection priorities and tasks in a self-directed manner, maintaining high attention to detail and consistency in quality verification. Essential Skills Minimum 3-4 years of hands-on inspection experience in aerospace, renewable energy, military, manufacturing, or similar hardware-focused environments. Experience performing receiving and in-process inspections on mechanical and/or electrical hardware. At least 1 year of experience interpreting engineering drawings and applying GD&T principles. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical documentation. Demonstrated experience documenting non-conformances and supporting corrective action processes. Ability to work directly and effectively with engineers, technicians, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues. Strong attention to detail and the ability to independently enforce quality standards. Understanding of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems and their application in manufacturing operations. Experience with mechanical assembly and electrical assembly in a production or hardware-focused environment. Proficiency in non-conformance reporting, root cause analysis, and material review board processes. Experience in incoming inspection and supplier quality activities. Familiarity with manufacturing quality systems and quality assurance practices. Microsoft Office proficiency for documenting inspections, preparing reports, and communicating findings. Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and cross-functional collaboration. Ability to work comfortably with employees from varying educational and technical backgrounds. Self-directed work style with the capability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree or higher in Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Quality, or a related technical discipline. 5+ years of quality inspection or manufacturing experience. Experience interpreting vendor material certifications and verifying compliance with requirements. Experience with assembly and integration of mechanical and electrical systems. Experience utilizing paperless work instructions and digital documentation tools. Knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety standards in field and manufacturing environments. Background in ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems implementation and continuous improvement. Exposure to portable energy storage products or similar complex hardware is beneficial. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Torrance, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $79040.00 - $93600.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. equity ownership through stock options, giving you a stake in our success, along with comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental, and vision) through an HRA with a generous allowance.
