Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented Thread Inspection Technician to join our machine threading shop. This position is responsible for inspecting threaded pipe to ensure it meets customer specifications and industry standards. The ideal candidate will be comfortable using precision measuring instruments, thread gauges, and inspection equipment while maintaining accurate inspection records and supporting production quality. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Inspect threaded pipe using API thread gauges, ring gauges, plug gauges, and other inspection tools. Verify thread dimensions, taper, pitch, and overall quality to ensure compliance with specifications. Use precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, tape measures, depth gauges, and other measuring devices. Complete inspection reports, production paperwork, and quality documentation accurately. Identify and document non-conforming products and communicate issues to supervisors. Read and interpret work orders, drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements. Maintain accurate production and inspection records. Ensure all measuring equipment is properly handled and maintained. Follow company quality standards, safety procedures, and housekeeping requirements. Assist with other shop duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous manufacturing, machine shop, pipe inspection, oilfield, or quality control experience preferred. Experience using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Ability to learn API thread inspection procedures. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Basic math skills including decimals and fractions. Ability to read and complete paperwork accurately. Basic computer skills are a plus. Dependable with excellent attendance. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and climb as needed. Ability to work safely in a manufacturing/shop environment. Must be able to distinguish defects through visual inspection. Preferred Experience API thread inspection OCTG or line pipe inspection Machine shop experience Quality control or quality assurance Oil & gas manufacturing Precision measuring instruments Mechanical aptitude
