SMT Inspector I
EMPLOYMENT STATUS:

REPORTS TO
Supervisor, SMT
POSITION SUMMARY
The SMT Inspector is responsible for examining PC boards assembled by the Pick and Place SMT machine ensuring
IPC-A-610
standards have been met working under close supervision of team lead and SMT supervisor.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collect completed PC boards from the Vision area.
Update IFS Dispatch List with SMT inspector number.
Inspect PC boards based on AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) results.
Ensure that inspection is completed using
IPC-A-610
standards with schematics, work instructions, and shop order that share the same revision number.
Document all defects found on PCB using
KOHYOUNG AOI
review procedure
GMPR-1303.
Communicate excessive or repetitive defects to SMT supervisor.
Correct all PC board defects to ensure PC boards are compliant with applicable quality standards.
Clean all PC boards using the Batch Washer according to
GMPR-1152
guideline.
Close order in IFS Dispatch List and package PC boards in the appropriate ESD boxes as per
QAI-2006
guidelines.
Ensure all bins are properly packaged with correct amount of PC boards indicated on the shop order. Place fully inspected and quality compliant boards on the 'Done' shelf.
Move completed PC boards to the next department listed on the router.
Clean own work area and maintain equipment.
JOB SKILLS REQUIRED
Basic English language skills
Able to read schematics and work instructions
Able to accurately solder small components
Basic computer skills Accurate data entry skills - must be detail oriented
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of assembly experience with soldering skills.
Surface Mount soldering skills preferred.
Experience in avionics manufacturing environment highly preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Light Work- This role may require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up 10 pounds of force frequently to lift carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Most essential functions are performed while sitting but walking and standing is occasionally required.
Manual dexterity is required in the assembly or fabrication of parts which may result in the repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, and fingers.
Visual acuity is required for visual inspection of boards involving small defects, small parts, and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Gables Engineering is a drug free workplace and Equal Opportunity Employer
