Pay range:
$22-$29/hr (based on experience) Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quality Technician to support our manufacturing and assembly operations. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting mechanical assemblies, welded frames, and pressure-tested systems to ensure all products meet engineering specifications and quality standards. You will work closely with the engineering and production teams to identify defects, document findings, and drive corrective actions.
Essential Functions Inspection:
Perform dimensional and visual inspections of mechanical assemblies, subassemblies, and components against drawings and engineering specifications.
Welding Quality:
Inspect welded frames and structures for weld quality, dimensional conformance, and surface defects in accordance with applicable standards.
Hydrostatic Testing:
Conduct and support hydrostatic testing operations, including equipment setup, pressurization, monitoring, and documentation of results.
Torque Verification:
Apply and verify torque specifications using calibrated torque wrenches and tools in accordance with assembly procedures.
Documentation:
Document inspection results, non-conformances, and test data accurately and completely in quality management systems.
Issue Tracking:
Initiate and track non-conformance reports (NCRs) and support root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
Material Handling:
Safely lift and handle heavy components and assemblies, up to 50 lbs, as part of daily operations.
Calibration:
Maintain and verify calibration of inspection tools and test equipment.
Process Improvement:
Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring defects and recommending process improvements.
Communication:
Communicate inspection findings clearly to production, engineering, and management teams. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in a related field preferred. 3-5 years of experience in a quality, manufacturing, or inspection role. Hands-on experience with mechanical assembly inspection and torque wrench application. Familiarity with hydrostatic or pressure testing procedures and safety protocols. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T callouts, and assembly work instructions. Experience inspecting weldments and knowledge of basic weld quality criteria (AWS D1.1 or equivalent a plus). Proficient with basic measurement tools including tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and gauges. Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and work in a manufacturing floor environment. Basic computer proficiency in Microsoft Office. Preferred Additional Skills Familiarity with
ASME Y14.5-2018
Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) standards. Experience with chemical process equipment (vessels, piping, pumps, valves, compression fittings, instrumentation, etc.) Experience with non-conformance reporting and corrective action systems. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Physical Requirements This position requires frequent standing, bending, and walking on the production floor, as well as the ability to lift and maneuver heavy assemblies and equipment.
