Job Description

Job Summary The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting, identifying, sorting, and grading incoming scrap materials to ensure materials are properly classified and meet company quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products using precision measuring instruments such as height gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and vision inspection systems. Interpret mechanical blueprints, manufacturing documents, and technical specifications to verify conformance. Perform dimensional measurements and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) analysis to ensure products meet design tolerances. Utilize calibration procedures for measuring instruments to guarantee measurement accuracy. Document inspection results accurately and maintain detailed records for traceability and quality management reviews. Collaborate with production teams to identify root causes of quality issues and recommend corrective actions. Support the implementation of quality systems aimed at continuous improvement and defect reduction. Assist in the calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment such as height gauges, vision systems, and other precision instruments. Participate in internal audits and external inspections to verify adherence to regulatory/legal standards. Experience
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, customers, and drivers.
  • Ability to work independently and make accurate, sound grading decisions.
  • Dependable and able to work effectively in a fast-paced, outdoor environment.
  • Previous experience in scrap metal, recycling, industrial, or a related environment is preferred.
  • Ability to learn and accurately identify and distinguish between various types and grades of scrap materials.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, dust, and noise.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb, and work on uneven surfaces.
