Carter Lake, IA — near downtown Omaha Reports to: Chief Inspector, Structural Fabrication What You'll Do Conduct random inspections of fabricated structural steel products to verify compliance with industry and project coating specifications Monitor air temperature, dew point, and relative humidity of the coating environment prior to and during application Inspect wet film thickness (WFT) and dry film thickness (DFT) using specific inspection tools and techniques Verify that all paint lines and inspector equipment are calibrated and checked daily Prepare accurate and thorough inspector reports on a daily basis Initiate internal non-conformance reports (NCRs) as required Assist in the continuous quality improvement process and help reduce costs associated with coating errors and rework Assist in developing processes and procedures to improve productivity while maintaining quality standards Carry out all duties in accordance with AISC, ISO, and NQA-1 standards and company procedures What We're Looking For Minimum 1 year of industrial coating inspection experience — this is a requirement Proficiency in blueprint reading Familiarity with sophisticated paint systems including zincs, epoxies, and urethanes
AMPP/NACE
Level 1 certification strongly preferred — not required for the right candidate Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize and complete tasks independently in a fast-paced, changing production environment Strong technical skills and knowledge of coating processes Clear, professional communication skills — written and verbal Team player with a leadership mindset — you set the standard others follow Detail-oriented and committed to doing the job right the first time Applicants without current coating inspection certification will not be considered.
