Job Title:
SQF Practitioner / Quality Assurance (QA)
Specialist Location:
New Orleans, LA Job Type:
Full-time, Permanent About Us Paul Piazza & Son is a leading Wild Caught Shrimp food manufacturing / packaging / distribution facility dedicated to delivering high-quality products to our customers. We pride ourselves on maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence. We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented SQF Practitioner / Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist to lead our food safety compliance and quality operations. Job Summary The SQF Practitioner / QA Specialist will oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of our site's SQF Food Safety Management System and general QA programs. You will serve as the site's primary contact for SQF audits and regulatory compliance, ensuring all products meet FDA guidelines , GMPs , and company quality benchmarks.
Key Responsibilities SQF & Food Safety Leadership:
Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of the SQF System, HACCP plans, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Auditing & Compliance:
Coordinate and lead internal safety audits, third-party SQF certification audits, and regulatory inspections.
Quality Control & Testing:
Perform routine inspections and testing of raw materials and finished products using standard measuring tools. Corrective Actions (CAPA): Investigate customer complaints, product non-conformances, or process failures, and implement robust corrective and preventive action plans.
Documentation & Records:
Manage document control systems, calibration records, training logs, and Certificates of Analysis (COA).
Team Training:
Teach and mentor facility personnel on food safety protocols, hygiene practices, and quality standards.
Qualifications & Requirements Education:
High school diploma/GED with 3+ years of food/packaging safety experience, or an Associate/Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related technical field preferred
Certifications:
Must hold a current, recognized HACCP certification and have successfully completed SQF Practitioner training.
Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience managing SQF codes or quality systems in a manufacturing or packaging environment.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and digital inventory/QA tracking databases.
Competencies:
Strong technical writing skills, acute attention to detail, and the ability to confidently communicate compliance requirements to production teams.
