A Quality Inspector inspects and evaluates products according to company quality control standards. Inspects goods or packaging in a production or manufacturing facility.
The Quality Inspector is responsible for verifying prototype and production first-piece products, as well as conducting in-process and final inspections. This role ensures all manufacturing outputs meet strict structural, aesthetic, and engineering standards across plate processing, welding/fabrication, and paint operations.
Duties/Responsibilities :
Conducts first-piece, in-process, and final inspections for all prototype and production runs. Verify raw materials dimensions, laser/plasma cuts, and formed parts against engineering prints. Inspect welding and structural fabrication using both destructive and non-destructive testing (NDT) methods. Conduct visual and technical inspections of paint application, checking for thickness, adhesion, and Class A surface defects. Operate precision checking fixtures, calipers, micrometers, length scales, torque wrenches, and load testers. Complete all required quality logs, inspection paperwork, and compliance documentation accurately. Utilize barcode scanners and digital inventory systems to track and determine product acceptability. Propose constructive adjustments to daily workflows to enhance production quality and efficiency. Maintains cleanliness in designated workspaces and strictly adhere to the company quality policy. Perform other duties as assigned, including providing backup operator coverage in production areas if required.
Qualifications and Skills:
Ability to read linear prints and accurately interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) symbols. Proficiency in operating basic measurement equipment and applying basic mathematics/calculator operations. Ability to visually inspect Class A or high-polished panels for micro-defects. Solid understanding of prototype stamping, welding assemblies, and checking fixtures. Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
Preferred Education and Experience:
High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent. 2+ years of previous quality inspection experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. The standard working hours are Monday through Friday, however, overtime will be required based on workload demands, including weekdays, and weekends. The position is set in a manufacturing floor environment requiring standing for long periods of time, lifting up to 30lbs, and wearing PPE.
Pay:
$24.00 - $26.00 per hour
