ABOUT THE

ROLEThe Scale Operator accurately weighs trucks, record and manages all incoming and outgoing shipments of materials creating pay tickets and supports the office operations by performing various administrative tasks as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

Weighs trucks and ticket outbound sales using the Amrize LIFE system.

Ensures a safe work environment for self and others at all times.

Assists in responsibilities for site-specific safety training of visitors.

Assists customers in identifying / locating needed product and amount.

Enters payroll

Track materials rates from physical truck scale to final customer billing. Assure unbroken ticket sequencing with complete audit trail - inbound outbound weights, truck id, material codes and timestamps across all transacations.

Assure that generated invoices and scale tickets that match the correct pricing, customer accounts, and exact net weight of sand, gravel, or stone delivered.

Scale efficiency (Overload/Underloads) by maximizing the speed, accuracy, and throughput of the weighing and ticketing process to assure truck turnaround times are as fast as possible.

Maintains accurate COD records.

Performs clerical functions such as filing, answering phones, running reports, data entry, completing reports.

Collecting, verifying, and entering employee timekeeping data into a software system and generating periodic reports for management.

Reduction in Corrective Actions, Rejections, Billing Slips (CARBS) through accurate ticketing - lowering the number of administrative errors, wrong material codes, miscalculated tare/gross weights, or rejected scale tickets.

Communicates effectively and timely with sales staff.

Ensure all work areas, including scale house, are clean, tidy and organized.

Assists in training and coaching employees when needed.

Ensure compliance with internal control procedures - communicating problems in operations, unwarranted deviations from established standards, and violations of policy or law.

Other responsiblities as assigned.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent or 2 years of equivalent experience

Required Work Experience:

Previous scale, dispatching, or order-taking experience preferred

Required Technical Skills:

Must be computer literate and able to demonstrate competency in Microsoft

Word, Excel, PowerPoint Additional Requirements:
  • Basic math skills to calculate gross, tare, and net weights of aggregate loads. Reading and writing skills (English)
  • Computer literacy with working knowledge of data entry, and scale/ticketing software, spreadsheets
  • Communication skills to interact professionally with truck drivers, customers, and plant staff via phone, two-way radio, or in-person.
  • Team players, customer focused, puncual and reliable
  • Attention to detail to ensure precise weights, correct material codes, and accurate compliance ticketing
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Physical ability to sit for long periods, occasionally lift up to 25-50 pounds, and work in various weather conditions if the scale house is exposed.
  • This job requires shift work, callouts, scheduled and unscheduled overtime, weekend and holiday work. Employees may have the work schedule adjusted on short notice.

Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved Personal Protection Equipment ("PPE"), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
