Job Description

Quality Assurance Technician Summary:

Responsible for testing and auditing through established methods that product meets the specifications of company and customer defined targets. Function effectively as a cross-functional team member by providing technical expertise, assistance/support on the manufacturing floor, R D activities and implementation of Quality/Operations driven initiatives. This position includes responsibilities with clearly defined parameters and will operate under the immediate supervision of a Supervisor.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the purpose for the food ingredient in the formula.
  • Ability to read and analyze formulas.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data.
  • Must be able to use lab testing equipment (gages, scales, salt analyzer, color analyzer)
  • Knowledge and understanding of GMP's, SOP's, food safety rules, regulations and documentation requirements.
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Comply with maintaining records for food safety and quality programs to meet governmental and customer requirements.
  • File paperwork, organize (5S) lab supplies, maintain clean lab.
  • Perform routine checks on product for accuracy and to ensure production of high quality finished product.
  • Test/calibrate laboratory and production equipment such as in-line check weighers and metal detectors.
  • Work directly with production employees in reference to Good Manufacturing Practices, Quality and Food Safety.
  • Approve Certificate of Analysis results of incoming ingredients ensuring conformance to specification.
  • Develops understanding of flour technology, processing parameters, Standard Operating Procedures and other related QA topics.
  • Other tasks as assigned
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel and ability to use job related software as well as various office equipment as needed to perform job functions.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment; effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The ability to use a variety of kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Utilize various laboratory equipment.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort:
  • Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as dirt, dust, fumes, odors, extreme temperatures, humidity and/or noise.
  • Work environment involves moderate exposure to physical risks, such as working around mechanical, chemical, fire and electrical hazards.
  • Position requires the ability to stand and walk. Must have the ability to lift, carry, pull, push and reach in order to perform essential duties of the position.
  • Hearing and vision shall be normal or corrected sufficient to enable the employee to perform the essential duties of the job.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively so as to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Physical and mental ability to perform the normal requirements of the position and maintain an acceptable level of attendance.
  • Ability to multi-task and work extended daily hours and as many as seven days a week.
  • Personal protective equipment, as defined by C.

  • Document production attributes relevant for batch requirements
  • Must be familiar with RF handheld applications to execute logistic movements and material inquiries
  • Enter batch confirmation into SAP to confirm the delivery of materials
  • Record and complete required inventory return labels accurately
  • Completes necessary daily duties such as entering daily production data into the computer and completing various reports in SharePoint and SAP.
  • Accurately record necessary information to hold designated product or materials, issue all necessary communications, ensure physical segregation (where appropriate), specify details required for disposition, and ensure completion of hold.
Minimum Job Requirements:

Six months in a similar working environment required. SAP experience preferred.

Education/Certifications:

High school diploma or GED; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
