Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Control Technician to join our manufacturing team. We need a detail-oriented Paint Quality Control Technician to join our manufacturing team. You will test raw materials, monitor batch production, and run laboratory evaluations on finished paint products. Your work ensures that every batch meets our strict standards for color accuracy, viscosity, durability, and performance before it ships to customers.

Responsibilities Batch Testing:

Perform routine laboratory tests on wet and dry paint samples, including viscosity, weight per gallon, fineness of grind, pH, and drying time.

Color Matching:

Use spectrophotometers and visual comparison to match and adjust paint colors to standard master panels.

Material Inspection:

Test incoming raw materials, resins, solvents, and pigments to verify quality.

Equipment Operation:

Calibrate, operate, and maintain lab equipment (viscosity cups, gloss meters, spectrophotometers, and draw-down bars).

Record Keeping:

Log all test results accurately in quality software or paper batch records. Flag any out-of-spec batches immediately.

Problem Solving:

Assist the production team in root-cause investigations when a paint batch fails quality checks.

Safety & Cleanliness:

Follow all safety rules, wear proper PPE, and maintain a clean 5S laboratory environment.

Qualifications & Skills Experience:

1-2 years of experience working in a manufacturing, laboratory, or quality control environment (paint or coatings industry preferred).

Education:

High school diploma required; associate degree or coursework in Chemistry, Science, or a related field is a plus.

Color Vision:

Must be able to pass a standard color-blindness/color-matching screening.

Technical Skills:

Basic math skills for calculating formulas or adjustments, and basic computer literacy (Excel/Word/QC databases).

Soft Skills:

Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to work independently.[1] Physical Requirements Stand or sit at a lab bench for extended periods. Lift up to 30-50 lbs of paint samples or raw materials occasionally. Wear required personal protective equipment (safety glasses, lab coats, gloves).

Pay:

$18.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
